Dallas as well. Hell, Atlanta is pretty much a Mississippi city as well.

Anytime I go to Destin I meet people from Michigan as well.

I've seen Alabama fans try to argue that Birmingham is better than New Orleans. Us Mississippians embrace NOLA

well this is not true. Most folk in Tennessee don't like Memphis because of the crime and the national publicity memphis receives from said crime.

But I agree with that most old folk probably don't like it ebcause of the black people.

I personally have had a blast on Biel St., actively root for the Grizzlies, and played AAU in Memphis for quite some time.

I just like to rustle Rebelgators jimmies from time to time.

Knoxville has a higher crime rate so why isn't it mentioned? I think the PR from 'crime' is just an excuse and most of the Memphis haters are a lot like Detroit haters -- white folks who fled the city and live in upper class suburbs. Nashville has a white flight/white school districts and private schools that opened to avoid too much color problem of its own but it's less extreme. It's odd but a lot of racism in TN is associated with upper middle and upper classes. I suppose that has something to do with the odd nature of our state's history but it is what it is so to speak.

To add to it, a lot of the Northern transplant are racist as hell. They're supplying a lot of new fresh blood in terms of bigots/racists.

I always find it hilarious that Whitehaven Tennessee was statistically one of the best cities in America in the 60s, and now it is completely black save for a handful of stubborn 80+ year old white folks who never left.

Grew up going there all the time. Had family and friends down there we would go down for a weekend or just a day. And when my dad lived in Gulfport it was even closer. Absolutely love NO.
