Is the social life dominated by greek life as much as people say? Right now I plan on rushing, but will I feel left out if I don't? Also, anybody want to explain how the whole rush thing works because I have no idea.

Never rushed or even considered it. I've never felt left out. And the girls aren't obsessed with frat guys as much as those guys would like to think they are. The only ones that are are super slutty freshmen with daddy issues.

I joined a frat at UT. I quit after I was a brother for a year. It wasn't my thing.

You should definitely rush though, that's the funnest part.

Now this is a helpful answer. I was seriously put off by rush at orientation. About 3 future frat dudes basically wouldnt talk to anybody else that were not dressed exactly like them. A bunch of us partied in the hall that night and they were extremely full of themselves. Me and my friend going with me agreed that it seemed incredibly superficial.

Easiest way to meet girls and make new friends. Anyone that says that can meet as many people without a frat is lying. You can meet plenty without one, just not as many if you were in one. Since you know nothing about rush you obviously aren't being rushed by anyone, which means you'll end up at a middle or low tier frat. You can still have fun, make connections, and meet good people but it's just not the same as being in an elite frat so it may not be as worth it. One tip... Don't use the word frat when rushing a frat. You wouldn't call your country a count so don't call a fraternity a frat... Unless you're me

Your freshman year is the only year that being Greek really matters to anyone. After that everyone just wants to get fricked up regardless of affliation.

Pledge, don't call it a frat.

While the brothers say frat every fricking second. So stupid.

Don't listen to this tool.

I rushed. It was fun. Wasn't for me. I think I was smart enough to realize the most of my college friends were already in a frat, so I didn't need to be a member and pay the dues in order to reap frat benefits. I spent a lot of time at the frat hanging out with friends, so I felt sort of like an unofficial member anyhow.

Glad I didn't join. I saved money and time. I showed up whenever I wanted and was at most of the parties. What else do you want from a frat?

I will agree with this. With all the events that are going on, you will meet more people.
