Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis 1,000 yard rusher. (Patriots and Bengals) Brandon Bolden: 1,000 rusher (plays for the Pats)
Dexter McCluster: 1,000 rusher/everything for our 08 and 09 teams (Cheifs, Titans, Chargers)
Jordan Wilkins 1,000 rusher (will play for colts this year)

We’ve had lots of success at this spot since Duece. Just usually they are under the radar since none have been highly ranked coming out of high school or overshadowed by other SEC backs.

Not bad at all. They have been under the radar. It seems to me that OM would have had a few consecutive years of a 1,000 yard rusher. Didn't know that.

I would probably say Dexter McCluster. When that guy was healthy, he was exciting to watch with the ball in his hand.

I agree. Enjoyed watching him play. Saw an interview of him after OM (can't remember in what forum/context) seemed like a great guy.

It's true. The State game was not one of his better games. On the very first play that wasn't a penalty, Lodge had gotten behind the defender and if the ball had been put on the money, he probably would have scored. He also missed Lodge for another touchdown later in the game. Also, who knows what Ta'amu was thinking on the interception? He did throw some good balls, but on that day State was just not a very good team. Usually by that time of the year, the least banged up team is the better team and we just had more depth than State last year. Ta'amu will be a good QB this year, but the State game was not one of his stellar efforts.

Freeze didn't focus on the running game as much as fans would have liked.

The real question is why didn't he? Was it the Oline's inability to run block? Freeze's love affair with throwing the ball and trick plays?

It's funny that Luke's first year of not being the Oline coach they have a 1,000 yard back. I don't know if it has to do with the fact that a better Oline coach came in last season or just growth in Jordan Wilkins' game after sitting out the previous year.

Yeah it’s tough to gain the spotlight when you’ve got all the 5 Star backs at Alabama and Georgia taking up all the media attention. They have all gotten the job done. Ben-Jarvis and Brandon Bolden both played for shitty teams the years they both had their best seasons. Dexter was the best All purpose player we’ve ever had and is probably the only one most people outside of die hard SEC fans will know about. Wilkins played well last year but wasn’t the star of the show so he quietly had a 1,000 yard season.

Very impressive. I may be way off base here, but it seemed like OM running game opened up with the QB ya'll have. OM may make some noise this year. I have never disliked OM and I hope they have a great year this year against every team not named Auburn. Good luck this season and may the 1,000 yard streak stay alive.

RPO (run pass option) plays killed our run game under Freeze. As a O-lineman you have no idea if it’s going to be a run or pass so you’re not set to run block. The few designed runs we did were usually predictable and we never really had a true north and south RB under freeze. Wilkins could have been that guy but it never happened until last season under Luke.

That Texas Tech game is going to be fun to watch. I got Ole Miss winning 72-68

I’m not sold on Texas Tech yet. They are breaking in a new QB and will be trying to keep up with us in the score fest. Of course this dude will probably be the next Johnny football because I said this but he will have some serious pressure on him to score.

I think our DBs will be above average this year. LBs will be paper thin because we have missed on every single one we have recruited for the last 4 years. DLine has good 1st string but no depth. I predict we will go man a bunch and put corners on an island and use the safeties to crowd the box to make up for how bad we have been stopping the run especially early in the season. Really nervous to see how we respond. Last year we were bad because we were not even in the right lanes in run defense. That is not good at all but it’s a coachable problem. If the coach can’t figure that out a second year in a row it might be time to find a new defensive coordinator
