What house number? I live in garden terrace.

Also for bars, the more popular ones will be so crowded it will be ridiculous. For a low key bar go to the blind pig. I like going there on game weekends because it's not so crowded. You will be able to get a drink easily there after the game to drown your sorrows

Werd well you are nowhere near being able to walk to the square or campus.

Garden Terrace is a essentially Lake Beau Pre but a few miles away from campus and the Square. I really think if you call ahead of time and try to get a driver's number you'll be ok. Hell, even come out and say yall wanna rent one out for the weekend and see what the rate is. May not be too bad split 4 ways. But I would call asap. LSU weekend is always pure mayhem in this small town.

A couple taxi companies off the top of my head are:

Rock Star Taxi
Austin Taxi
Angel Taxi

If y'all are looking for a fight you picked the right neighborhood. Me and my bros own garden terrace. There's 4 houses of my fraternity brothers on the loop.

Place lasted a year, almost to the day.

That spot is awful for just about anything. Getting in and out of there is a nightmare.

BBB is great, but I'd try to get in Proud Larry's early, their brunch/bloody's are damn good and you'll get in quicker.

Lunch- if you want the best sweet tea you'll ever have/best burger in town go to Olivia's right by the airport. Easily the most underrated eat in Oxford.

Everywhere will be crowded for dinner, but if y'all want some whole smoked hog and sit outside with drinks check out Lamar Lounge. Brown bagging at Taylor Grocery is always a good time as well.

Just some different suggestions that won't be quite as crowded but you'll definitely enjoy.

I never understood why checkers only used Half of the building that they built. Was that to comply with some type of building code?

Lots of really good suggestions in here already but I thought i'd add my .02.

I'm not a fan of Boure at all. Its good, dont get me wrong but I'm not that high on it. I feel there are better places for the money.

dinner: 1. City Grocery is a good place on the square. High end but really good food. A place nobody has mentioned- 2. McEwens.. Also on the square and damn good food. I like to eat there whenever i'm in town for dinner. 3. Taylor Grocery- Awesome place out in the country about 15 minutes from Oxford. Normally a long wait on game weekends but you can brown bag and sit out on the front porch. Great place to socialize with some Rebels and meet some very nice people.

Taylor Grocery or McEwens would be my suggestions

lunch: AJAX... Big Easy (country fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, butterbeans, and pickles on a bun ) with a side of Mac-N-Cheese. Seriously.. You will be very happy. Plan on being in a comfort coma afterward though. or Big Bad Breakfast- also good, but hard for me to pick over Ajax.

Like everyone else has said, Oxford residents love to play host to visitors. As long as you're nice and courteous to others, people will be very friendly to you. If you're a douche, expect that same attitude returned. You're a LSU fan, so expect some student to mouth off to you (happens at every school) but just ignore them and go about your business.

Good Luck and have a great trip

Damn, that's a great plan. I will unfortunately be unable to make it, but I'll be there in spirit. If you want a good sandwich in a place that's not likely to be nuts on the Square, I'd go with the Blind Pig. Really good lunch place. If you want to head off the Square for a bit for a bite, Volta has a good is a good place to get a Gyro.

But honestly, every place is going to be nuts and packed. The LSU game is almost always the craziest one every 2 years, and LSU fans travel well there as well. You'll have a great time though.

We're not going there looking for any trouble... Everyone in our group will be there to party, and party hard. Looking forward to Oxford, I've heard how nice and fun it is and I know ole miss always brings serious talent to Baton Rouge.

ETA: and we can deal with the taunts and yelling, that comes with the territory. I'm actually looking forward to it. This is my first away game.

I live at Garden Terrace. Playing the links will be super convenient for you guys.

It's not hard to get a cabs from here. I think Austin Taxi company will be your best bet. There's actually a house at the end of the neighborhood that always has an Austin Taxi cab in the driveway.
