So you think that recording a conversation without their consent is
1- legal
2- helpful
If a recruit wants to lie, he or she can totally fabricate and you would have to prove that you just didnt record it. Kind of suspicious that you didn't record the one conversation that you offered them money.

You can have all of the recordings and get a copy of your phone records.

You would have to provide some type of proof. That's on the accuser.

Does Ole Miss really want to dig their hole deeper?

In fairness, all of this "tape and M.A.D." talk is just message board hysteria, thrown out by a fanbase who has been lied to for 3+ years. They're hurt, as we all would be, and are lashing out. The kid who they want to burn is only mentioned in 1 of the 15 Level I violations, and the OM Counsel is not challenging that allegation.
Officials at Ole Miss are looking for friends right now, definitely not looking to make more enemies.

and you don't think this will backfire on them with recruits not even wanting to talk to their school in the future?

MS is a single consent state, meaning only one party in a recording has to consent to that conversation the single party being whatever rep from ole miss it was

No. Not really.

please explain? Admitting you will will record conversations and use them against a recruit if they ever cross you is moronic. You don't think every coach in America will use that against Ole Miss? You don't think recruits will be wary to even talk to them, knowing what they say wouldn't remain in confidence? I think you're being rather ignorant if you don't think this would impact them negatively.

It will only be used against them if they lie about what they said. But the recording could be beneficial to the coaching staff in other ways. They can go back later and review their approach to different recruits and learn from mistakes they might have made. Or not really mistakes, but try to find ways to be better in future conversations.

If they explain that they do it for every recruit, then it's hard for the recruit to take it as a personal slight.

I'm not saying recording conversations is bad in and of itself. I'm saying recording conversations and then admitting you recorded them and handing them over to the NCAA is bad.

How is it bad if you only hand them over when you are being investigated?
