We disagree. Never mentioned MSU.

one could easily vote him above the bear. bryant's era was easier to win it all; at least half of bama's nc's are made up and includes years they lost their bowl game. not counting te 10 game seasons. i'm not knocking him; he DOESN'T NEED the BOGUS accolades but south carolina is a hell of a lot tougher place to win than alabama.

Lou Holtz first year at SC was 0-11 and the previous was 1-10. This program has come a loooong way

Damn son. Ole Ball Coach has done a hell of a job at USC, but give me a link to what he has won there please. It's one thing to be ranked in the top 5 mid season. It's another to win an SEC or national title.

Amazingly enough, guess who I wanted hired in 2008 after Tubs was canned?

Muschamp, and then Spurrier...

We got Chizik.

You hired a bad coach with a dismal record and got a national title out of it. Also, it seems you may not have to deal with Chizik too much longer. Can't complain too much.

On a related note, I really wish we just managed to convince Spurrier to stay home in the 60's. We pick up a Heisman winning quarterback and the 90's is probably unbelievably good.

But you don't get Manning and PhatPhill doesn't send Bama to the Pitts of Hell. . . Which would you rather have

I agree. Spurrier's definitely a top 5 SEC coach of all-time.

1. Bryant
2. Neyland
3. Saban
4. Vaught
5. Spurrier

What's also impressive about Spurrier is he's had to change his philosophy in order to be successful at USCe. Most coaches won't. The offense he runs at USCe looks nothing like what he ran at Florida IMO.

Auburn had as much chance at those two as they have at Bill Belichick.

The guy has some NFL-type studs playing on that team now. That always helps you look good as a coach.

Of course it does. But he also recruited them there. Does those studs still go to USCe without him?

If he wins a Natty while at South Carolina he will be top 5 in NCAA history.

Give me Spurrier and the ridiculous amount of success Tennessee would have had in the 90's.

I'd probably put Spurrier above Vaught, but that's a great list.

I don't see how you could put Saban ahead of Spurrier. Spurrier builds programs from scratch. Saban does remodeling to outdated programs.
