UF and Texas A&M are peers according to it.

Don't both schools have multiple joint ventures and initiatives since before the conference move?

They could say goodbye to recruiting Texas in the B1G.

Here's an interesting comparison (just using A&M).

A&M chose 15 schools as peers:

Georgia Tech (RECIPROCATED)
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue (RECIPROCATED)
UC-Berkely
UC-Davis
UCLA
UC-San Diego
Florida (RECIPROCATED)
Illinois
Michigan (RECIPROCATED)
Minnesota
UNC
t.u.
Wisconsin (RECIPROCATED)

5/15 is a damn good hit rate for this study

In addition to the aforementioned 5, 38 others chose A&M as a peer: (not including University of Phoenix)

Alabama
Arizona
Auburn
BYU
Clemson
Colorado
Colorado State
Florida State
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Kentucky
LSU
Michigan State
Mississippi State
Missouri
NC State
New Mexico
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Oregon State
Pepperdine
Pittsburgh
Rutgers
SUNY
St. John's
Tennessee
Texas-Dallas
Texas Tech
UAB
Utah
Virginia
VPI
Washington
Washington State
West Virginia

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that A&M doesn't consider 4 schools on the bottom list as peers who are more highly thought of, but that just tells me that A&M is a bit more selective. Also why I'm not surprised to see neither Georgia nor Vanderbilt on either list.

By comparison, of the 20 schools that Oklahoma chose as peers, only 5 (Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech) reciprocated.

Reciprocation by Georgia Tech, Purdue, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin.

Take that any day. Surprised Georgia not selected as a peer.

Florida State and Oklahoma selecting us as a peer is a freakin joke! They are like the guy who can only attract skanks but is hitting on women with bodyguards.

There are very specific reasons that each school is selected as a peer.

I assume the only reason we selected Texas was because of the PUF. UNC because of the similar research that comes out of the "Triangle", etc.

they're stuck to Okie State as long as T Bone Steak is alive.

Yeah...might work out nicely though if he dies right around the time the GOR expires.

Also, I don't know what is wrong with trying to attach yourself to the Premier Public School academic conference

Some of these schools have a really inflated sense of academic reputation.

OU is a great college, but it is not prestigious.

TAMU said the same bs when they didn't leave the first time realignment came up. blah blah blah. The sec is a bunch on non academic dummies.

OU would fit in with SEC academics. If they claim that Ok State are their academic partners, then most in the SEC would fill that role.

It's not prestigious at all and wouldn't be a standout in the SEC in any manner. Make no mistake, you can get a great education at OU as you can at any major state U, but it's right in the middle for the SEC.

I'd say the Big 12 especially is pretty laughable.

Of all of the other B12 schools and the University of Phoenix, the University of Phoenix has the nicest stadium.

The OU Engineers I've worked with were weak. Not the equal of MSU, Auburn, or LSU.

I'm pretty sure A&M never said that...unless it was that colossal dumbass Mike McKinney...in which case it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm very glad to see that all but 3 of the other schools in the conference chose us as peers. I assume it's because SC, Georgia, and Vanderbilt aren't Morrill Act schools.

OU would be a good fit for the Big, add Kansas and the west division looks a lot like the old Big 8.

If we were to use that as a basis, it would make it look like UF has no interest in being in the SEC either. Only chose A&M as a peer university, 6 of the 11 were in the Big 10. Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, and Wisconsin are the types of schools that listed us as peers, but certainly no one wants to leave the SEC because of it.
