I honestly don't get this rationale. Oklahoma is one of the greatest programs in the history of CFB. They are the premier school in their state. New state.

But you are telling me that ECU is a better fit? Are you kidding me? ECU is what, 6th or 7th in NC?

Get out of here. If you aren't a Top 3 program in your own state, quit kidding yourselves.

Oklahoma is not in the south. Adding ECU at least gives us more exposure in a state that is already in the south.

ECU is never going to be in the SEC and anyone that suggests them has no understanding of how re-alignment works. Oklahoma is a distant longshot at best because there is no way in hell the SEC is going to take OSU to go with them.

The prizes are North Carolina and Virginia. The consolation prizes are VTech, NC State, and Duke. Here is the thing though, the SEC doesn't have to expand. When you are on top the only reason you expand is to grow even stronger and make even more money. If a school can't bring in $50 mill a year plus in value to the conference then adding them is a net negative and s dumb business decision. If a school doesn't have AAU status or is not very strong academically it also waters down the conference and since the Presidents are doing the voting it absolutely is a major factor.

Neither is Missouri and Texas really isn't the south either...but they are two flagship schools with great academics, great programs, and bring millions of eyeballs to the SEC Network.. OU could help solidify that...ECU is crap

This.

If we grab anyone out of the North Cackalacky it's going to be NCSU. Then the EZZ would grab up ECU to fill NS State's spot.

Why not Baylor and McNeese State?

No money. Does not add value to SEC franchise.

Already have the TxA&M, which is in the top 3 in Texas.

McNeese State. Don't need another team Louisiana. No money.

I know are being factitious.

Forget Okla. If you are going for franchise value, go North Carolina and Virginia.

While I agree with everything you said, I don't believe that there is anyway to split up Duke and North Carolina. I think the most realistic option is NC State and Virginia or VT.

Missouri was added to make the conference look better academically and for money from t.v. markets. If they didn't have that they wouldn't be in the conference.

i think that vt and ncstate would best suit us, however, i dont see that happening.

in the future, when the big random 12 collapses, i can see us going after ou and kansas and maybe end up with one of em and wvu.

i absolutely hate ou, like, a lot, but who wouldnt take em as long as osu isnt tagging along.

i see ou, osu, ttech and uta going to the pac no ater than 2026.

we can get kansas and wvu, realistically, unless kansas picks big10, which they might.

The problem with the 4 power conference thing is there are more than 64 major teams and non are willing to go to a non power conference. The ideal situation would have been for the ACC to collapse and the best teams be absorbed by others, but too many teams would have been left behind like Wake. Other teams wouldn't have options they wanted to take, i.e. GaTech. (They would have been low on priority for the B1G and wouldn't have gotten an invite from the SEC, leaving them to go to the Big 12.)Unless Baylor, Wake, K-State, TCU and a few others decide that going to a lower tier conference is fine, we are stuck where we are. You can blame ESPN for this.

Which is A OK in my book. Does the SEC really need to get bigger?

yeah, i agree for the most part, just wondering what happens when the big12 tv contract expires in 2025. i think the lhn expires then too.

as far as schools like wf and gt, there will always be a home for them somewhere, sec would be insane not to take one of the top 10 engineering schools in the world.

that said, the acc has some very serious academic clout with the cradle in nc and va. that conference isnt going anywhere. high end academic reputation (uva, unc, gt, duke, wake, etc) will always be important to conferences.

but they would cost us money. if a school isnt going to bring in more money, they need to offer something in return.

schools like gt could feasibly do this. schools like ksu, baylor, tcu and even more remote possibilities like ecu have absolutely nothing to offer.

If only you were allowed to downvote as many times as you post...then you could do some damage. But I would have to care first.
