They did put 70 on UNC last season so that was amusing.

I bet they could finish somewhere in the middle of the pack in the ACC most years. I know they don't bring the name recognition that UNC or even a NC State would, but ECU is a fair-sized school with a 50,000 seat stadium.

It should be clear by now to everyone that membership in the SEC is determined by the presidents of schools in the conference. The only way that realignment is ever going to start up again is if a school of Texas A&M's or Mizzou's quality indicates a strong interest in joining.

That's what started the ball rolling the last time and it's what would get the interest of the conference's 14 presidents again.

I don't care about symmetry. Why does that matter?

Access into the North Carolina markets where the SEC and ESPN would be able to charge full price for the SECN.

Also, a fanbase that consistently buys 40k+ tickets a game for the last several years despite being saddled with CUSA / AAC schedules and decent yet mostly average at best teams.

other randomness includes

Sea Grant university
Current scoreboard on VT, NCSt, and UNC in football.
Purple and gold school colors to match LSU.
Decent baseball attendance.
The most kick arse scoreboard intro video ever made

We should just merge with the Sunbelt and have Disney run the SECN.

GD, ECU is never going to be asked to join the SEC. Just stop with this horse shite.

If the SEC chooses to expand into NC, ECU is the school to add.

They've got the football culture. I'm always amazed at how many fans ECU brings to Columbia, even for a noon kickoff when their team isn't gonna be good (2012)

The prize of North Carolina is UNC followed by Duke, but ECU would absolutely be a solid add for the purpose of getting into North Carolina. ECU has a respectable football brand and is a big enough school. The only concern to me is their low endowment. They make Mississippi State (which is the poorest school currently in the conference) look like a rich king, but other than that I think ECU is pretty solid.

I do not understand why people want UNC in the SEC.

1. They would never leave the ACC. The REC is based on UNC's running of the ACC. UNC and Texas will never leave the conference they run.

2. They do not have football culture. Its all about basketball in the Tarhole state

3. UNC would never lower their basketball competition by moving to the SEC. In the same way no SEC school would leave the SEC for lesser football competition, UNC would not leave the ACC for lesser baketball competition.

Duke has reasons 2 and 3 for not leaving the ACC for the SEC. Neither of those schools are gonna leave the ACC.

A state. That is it. Have about the same appeal as UTEP before A&M was added....and UTEP is in a much bigger/more valuable state.

Agree.

So much of a prize that they will never leave acc as a charter member.

The acc took steps to solidify a position of permanence, unlike the big 12. Unc, duke, ncsu, and wake offer a chance for 10+ million tvs. But they aren't leaving the acc for the sec.

But I'd be giddy if ECU was even mentioned by the SEC.

Although ECU has overachieved in the last decade, they don't bring a big enough market compared to the other north carolina schools or virginia schools.

I think ECU is a great fit. They already run football in NC. Don't kid ourselves they are competitive every year, unlike the big state schools. Think VT in the mid to late 90's. Same thing. Every one would take VT. Same deal, but you get NC.

As far as OU, that just seem like an odd fit. I think Cinncy is a better option. Great basketball school, in Ohio. Basically though Cincinnati is in Kentucky. Could be another dimond in the rough.

I honestly don't get this rationale. Oklahoma is one of the greatest programs in the history of CFB. They are the premier school in their state. New state.

But you are telling me that ECU is a better fit? Are you kidding me? ECU is what, 6th or 7th in NC?

Get out of here. If you aren't a Top 3 program in your own state, quit kidding yourselves.

Why does the ACC get the Gulf and the Atlantic coast? That's it, Navy to the SEC.
