I think one of the plays Bielema was upset about was the long pass to Josh Reynolds where he thought one of our DL was dragged to the ground with no call even though we got called for holding all night

I went back and looked at the play. I can see why Bert thought it was holding, but I don't think it was. The DL was not dragged to the ground. He was trying to change direction toward Allen and had his feet taken out from under him.

So explain the blatant holding on pass plays

Every team catches a game where there are bad calls.

For a Coach to whine about it to the media is not a good idea.

The officiating was pretty bad across the board.

I don't recall a single play on which the Arkansas OL did not have a solid grip on Garrett's jersey.

I rewatched the game since then, and a few thoughts.

quote:

At least 1 holding call was BS per the commentator.

Probably thinking of the holding by your big RT. It was holding. Announcer and replay cut to the part too late. Watch a few seconds before.

quote:

1 roughing the passer was BS per everyone who saw the replay

Yup, that was total BS no doubt.

quote:

1 roughing the passer was iffy.

Perhaps, but a PF according to the rules.

quote:

No call on an obvious block in the back that was a huge gain for A&M.

Obvious penalty. Don't know how they missed it.

quote:

A couple holding calls on inside run plays which are very rare considering you're run blocking and it's a short play.

They were holds and since you were running all day up the middle that's where the holds were occurring. By the way, these were all in the first half. You guys cleaned it up in the second.

quote:

Arkansa received 57% more penalties and 79% more in penalty yardage than A&M.

So... maybe you were committing more penalties? The calls don't have to be even to be fairly officiated.

quote:

Arkansas was flagged 11 times, and Bert's teams in the past have average about 4-5 penalties a game. This was the second time this year where a handful of iffy penalties against Arkansas made it an uphill battle for Arkansas to win the game (first one was Toledo).

Perhaps this is part of the reason you guys are 1-3. Maybe it's not the officiating.

Bert is now 0-10 in 10 point games but obviously its the officiating that causes him to lose the close ones.

Maybe Jabba should worry less about running his gigantic mouth and more about how to not lose more than 8 games a year.

What's his record in 3 years at ArKansas now?
