I want to say Hurts for offense, but it is certainly not an overwhelming choice.

Defensive POY: Jonathan Allen

Defense - Zach Cunningham from Vandy. Dude is a monster. Jonathan Allen and Barnett also have strong cases.

This is the right answer

Arden Key's stats compare with any other DPOY candidate and he played two less games than the other guys. If he had those 2 games then he would take DPOY in my opinion. But if I had a vote it would be Jonathan Allen.

Offense: Hurts is probably going to win it due to all the injuries.
Defense: Barnett but Allen could as well because he plays for Bama (not saying it's fair)

Defense could be Cunningham, Allen, Barnett, and possibly even Key and there'd be no argument from me.

Offense - Hurts (3rd QB Rating, 4th TD passes, 1st %, 1st QBR, 2nd QB Rush Yards, 2nd QB Rush TDs, Undefeated Team, etc)

Defense - Cunningham

So just ignore the fact that he has better stats than everyone else at his position, including Allen? OK then. Go frick yourself with a cactus

I'm sorry Mrs Barnett, your son is a hell of a player.

our entire defense deserves the offensive player of the year award for all the other teams.

Hurts is going to win Offensive pretty easily, which is an indictment on the conference.

No, it's an indictment on the idiots who vote for the awards. Any objective person can see Fitzgerald that did more with less and has better stats than Hurts in rushing and scoring.

2016 SEC Stats

Passing:
Fitzgerald-6th in SEC, 2287 yds, 21 TD's, 10 INT's
Hurts-5th in SEC, 2454 yds, 21 TD's, 9 INT's

Rushing:
Fitzgerald-3rd in SEC, 1243 yds, 14 TD's
Hurts-14th in SEC, 840 yds, 12 TD's

Scoring:
Fitzgerald-7th
Hurts-13th

I'm going with Barnett on D. He had a great year, and amazing career. He deserves it having to play on that shitty team, for that shitty coach, and for that shitty University.

Offense I guess Hurts.

Incidentally, how ridiculous is the All SEC team going to look with nearly half of the 2 deep team picked from one school...should be interesting.

Recruiting Ranking

Bama: Top 5
MSU: Somewhere in the late 20's, maybe

Common Opponents

Ole' Miss:
Hurts- 19/31, 158 yds, 0 TD, 18 rush, 146, 0 TD
Fitzgerald-8/17, 109, 3 TD's, 14 rush, 258, 2 TD's

Arkansas:
Hurts-13/17, 253 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 8 rush, 20 yds, 2 TD's
Fitz-23/33, 328 yds, 2 TD, 17 rush, 131 yds, 4 TD

LSU:
Hurts:10/19, 107 yds, 1 INT, 20 rush, 114 yds, 1 TD
Fitz: 12/24, 120 yds, 13 rush, 13 yds

Auburn:
Hurts-27/36, 286 yds, 2 TD, 2 INT, 12 rush, 37 yds, 1 TD
Fitz-17/34, 181, 2 TD, 1 INT, 17 rush, 61 yds

There's nothing in those stats that say Hurts is a level above Fitz. Also, Hurts had the fortune of playing the MSU defense and avoided Alabama's.

Conference game INT's:
Hurts-8
Fitz-6

Fitzgerald is a good player, but this idea that Hurts is just kind of game managing his team of superstars around is ridiculous. Jalen Hurts is ahead of Nick Fitzgerald in almost all passing stats and is basically #2 behind him in rushing stats. Not to mention Hurts had to slow games down quite frequently while up by 21 points, or have games where he was forced to work on things he wasn't great at against Western Kentucky, Kent State, Kentucky, etc. So, being a great team is a double edged sword for your stats.

Stats in SEC Games Only

QB Rating
#2 - Jalen Hurts (143.47)
#7 - Nick Fitzgerald (117.60)

Yards Per Game
#4 - Jalen Hurts (218.6)
#9 - Nick Fitzgerald (168.9)

Yards Per Attempt
#3 - Jalen Hurts (7.8)
#10 - Nick Fitzgerald (6.1)

Completion Percentage
#1 - Jalen Hurts (66.2%)
#6 - Nick Fitzgerald (54.1%)

QB to INT Ratio
#5 - Nick Fitzgerald (2.0; 12 TD/6 INT)
#7 - Jalen Hurts (1.63; 13 TD/8 INT)

Total Yards (Rush + Pass) Per Game
Jalen Hurts - 302
Nick Fitzgerald - 289

Total TDs
Jalen Hurts - 22
Nick Fitzgerald - 22
