Offense - As much as it pains me.....Jalen Hurts. Really down year overall with top talent being injured (Chubb, Fournette, Kelley, T Knight, etc...) Hurts was consistent if not dynamic and this should be a fairly easy call. Runner up - Guice

Defense - Barnett. He was unblockable at times and gave maximum effort all the time. Runner-up - Jonathan Allen or the entire AL defense.

Yours?

I'm not sure about offense. I don't think Jalen was consistent enough to win it.

No way Barnett deserves it for Defense. His D gave up 500+ yards in the last 3 or 4 games. My vote would be for Jon Allen.

no doubt, no doubt in my mind. Obviously not a homer pick.

Offense - Nick Fitzgerald.

Defense - Zach Cunningham from Vandy. Dude is a monster. Jonathan Allen and Barnett also have strong cases.

So just ignore the fact that he has better stats than everyone else at his position, including Allen?

OPOY is really tough

Guice had a huge season, but he didn't rack up enough carries vs. Wisconsin, Auburn and Alabama (7 total in those 3 games). Granted in just 3 carries against Auburn ran for 62 yards.

Jalen Hurts was good "for a freshman" but his stats really dont scream OPOY at all. 147 passer rating is merely decent but he does have the 840 yards and 12 TD on the ground to help a lot. Again, solid numbers, but really only "because he's a freshman" and "on a 12-0 team". Him and Josh Dobbs are almost identical this year, and I don't see anyone nominating Dobbs (because Tennessee blew it).

You look at receivers and nobody stands out.

So yeah, no clue who should be OPOY, kind of sums up offenses in the SEC this year.

Without injuries I would vote for Kam Pettway. But yeah Hurts should get it.

Hurts is going to win Offensive pretty easily, which is an indictment on the conference.

Defense will go to either Cunningham or Allen.

There's no doubt Alabama had the best defense but its hard to single anyone out as the standout. Other than the superman sack, what made Allen stand out more than Williams, Foster or others?

Barnett or Cunningham will probably get the nod because they were true standouts on their teams.

Well, Allen and Barnett don't really play the same position. Allen plays inside a good bit and is really more of an interior pass rusher than an edge guy. But you can't with a straight face say Barnett hasn't had an amazing season. He certainly has. For as long as UT was in the game against Bama, it was because of Barnett. To be able to say that about an edge rusher speaks to how good he is. I'd have no issue with him winning it. Cunningham is very deserving as well.

I personally think Foster has been our best guy this year, but it's hard to say what differentiates him from anyone else. Him, Allen, Anderson, Williams, Hamilton, Fitzpatrick, Jackson (before getting hurt) all have had really outstanding seasons.
