I have now revised my odds to 18.4%...

I see your point. If LSU gets beat by Arkansas (and Alabama wins) then there would be a three way tie, and Bama would go because it would have a better division record (4-1) than LSU and Arkansas (3-2).
I wasn't making the assumption we are going to lose tomorrow.

Assuming the hammer is already coming down on Auburn, LSU would be the only team that controls its own destiny in the West.
Alabama would need help from Arkansas, and Arkansas would need help from Auburn.

Of course, all this is assuming that something happens in the next 48-72 hours regarding Newton.
How would you like to be the grad assitant coach at South Carolina that is responsible for compiling game film.

If you ask Newton's lawyer, he'll tell you he's 1,000,000% sure that Newton and AU will be in the SECC game.

AU will be in the game next week. The sec/NCAA would never declare them ineligible this close to the game due to lost revenue by giving other teams short notice

Cam needs to play today just to be fair to LSU and AR. If he is ruled ineligibke after the Iron Bowl, then LSU, AL, and AR will all have had "a level playing field" to determine who represent SEC West if Auburn is declared ineligible. That's why nothing should happen until after Iron Bowl. Bama needs to face the same AU team we did.

I think the SEC would stand to lose more revenue if they had to return its share of the 17 million for the BCSCG should Auburn subsequently be ruled ineligible

Hey Doc,
I'm hearing some rumors that, if true, would suggest the chance is much higher than this.
These rumors are coming from a prominent TAF member, but regardless....take with a grain of salt.
I, for one, am not getting my hopes up. Will assume these rumors are not true until confirmed.
That's kinda the route I'm going... I will not get excited until the SEC Championship kickoff and LSU is on the field... As of right now Auburn beat us... Cam Newton ran all over us... That's what I remember and hate.

I love how everyone wants to compare the Cam Newton situation with Reggie Bush's case. There two glaring differences in these two cases.
One is that Reggie was already with Saints when his investigation with the NCAA began. The only reason there was even an investigation, is because of an would be agent & his feelings getting hurt. He gave Reggie a loan that Bush was suppose to pay back once he went pro but didn't.
The investigation took longer because so much time had already elapsed from when the infraction first took place so of course it would take longer to back track to find the dirt.
Secondly there wasn't FBI involvement with the Reggie Bush case. There is nothing that gets past the Feds. If somehow the NCAA & SEC were given inside info from the Feds then that would allow them to make a quicker decision.
Still no one knows yet what will happen & what the NCAA & SEC know as of yet. What I do know is that its foolish to compare Cam's case to Reggie's.

I am starting to think that the SEC officials will decide to go by BCS rankings instead of tiebreaker.
#3 LSU - goin to the ship
#7 auburn - goin to the cotton

Again, the SEC has an easy out. Without even addressing the Cam scandal they could change their tiebreaking formula to give BCS ranking precedence. That would put LSU in Atlanta neatly.

that's a bit high.
I think there's a better chance that the aliens from Alpha Centuri march to end to mockery of Kenny the alien on South Park than the NCAA actually acts in a timely manner.

I have heard the same rumors....apparantly phone calls have been made to coaches of LSU and ARK to be prepared to play South Carolina in case the findings are in prior to SECCG
We goin' to the ship, we goin' to the ship! (if we don't frick up and lose to Arky).
