Just had to drive through that entire state for work. North, south, east, and west parts of the state. Arkansas is anything but beautiful. It's wide open, dirty, old, and full of nothing. Little Rock is similar to Baton Rouge in feel I would say but other than that, the state sucks.

Ok good job trying to troll. Seriously. I might not like the people from Arkansaw but the central and Northern parts of the state are nice. I love the drive on I-40 from Little Rock to Ft. Smith. Scenery is beautiful.

1988 - 1992. We had a bunch of Louisiana guys on the team. Did you play at where ever else you went?

Pinnacle Mountain. I just Googled "west little rock" and that's one of the images I found.

I can see if a person drove Texarkana to Memphis on the freeways, they wouldn't think Arkansas is pretty. But exit and head north/west for a half hour and its reliably pretty and scenic.

Even on I-40 through the western part, you are mainly in the Arkansas River Valley, and so its flatter and more boring than if you head north or south of the highway.

Yea I did. We didn't play against one another. 1999-2002 for me

UAM I want to say had not won a game in a while when they were recruiting me. The facilities were terrible. I remember that. Like, just run down bad.

Lake Greeson last week while I was crappie fishing. Absolute serenity.

They hit a rough patch a couple years after I graduated and they haven't recovered. We always had to do more with less and ended up being pretty successful for a while. Competed for conference championship, made playoffs, won a bowl game my Sr. Season and the won conference the next year.

Sad to say that I'd discourage my son from playing there now. That was my first impression of Arkansas. You know what they say about first impressions...they last and are usually right !!

Where did you end up going?

Last time we were there, they had already sold out of the twice cooked chicken. I thought my husband might just start crying!

Probably one of his top 5 favorite meals.

I was at UAM at that time too. I figured you had to have played then when you referenced the bowl game. Their new coach is good, but is having to pick up the pieces from the crap that Matthews left him. He's recruiting well, and should have them rolling pretty soon again.

I am not saying where I went on here.

Not trying to be a prick, but I've got a secret identity to protect here.

Arkansas as a whole is MUCH MUCH prettier than Louisiana and its not even remotely close. The northwestern half of Arkansas - northeastern half of Alabama although NW Arkansas has a slightly more dramatic landscape overall. Both Arkansas and Alabama have prettier natural areas than either Louisiana or Mississippi for that matter.

True. I love going on I-40 or down U.S. 71(Future I-49) from Ft Smith to Shreveport. You'll stay awake on those drives looking at the mountains, waters, scenery, etc.

You mention Alabama, I feel the same way about Missouri on the I-44 drive heading from Springfield to St. Louis. Nice scenery with the big HILLS/Mountains. Plus you get the old feel of historic Route 66 without driving through the smaller towns. Driving into STL coming in from the West almost reminds me of driving into Little Rock coming in from the West.
