Per Neal McCready's Twitter feed, Nutt is not going to Colorado.

It would not shock me if he steps down.

Having Boone and his difficulties with coaches may pay off big time with Nutt. There is no Frank Broyles to save him at Ole Miss. I could definetly see him jumping ship if Boone demands that he can his buds.

This is actually great for Ole Miss. They should be celebrating. I'm kinda pissed he won't be around long enough for us to beat him again, but o well.

Nebraska legitimately flirted with Nutt. The VERY NEXT year, Nutt had a story fabricated that LSU wanted him there.

This is all he & Sexton's doing. HE is not going anywhere. He just wants money and/or wants Ole Miss fans to think they have a real catch of a coach, even after having a shitty season.

It still amazes me how many believe that ludicrous story about Jimmy Rane calling Nutt to beg him to come to AU in '08.

That obvious lie had Sexton's grimy fingerprints all over it. And yet some (*cough blueTuna cough*) treat it as gospel.

Nutt knows what's inevitable if stays at UM(his firing like all Reb HCs). He knows the SEC West is too tough.

Colo can be rebuilt and compete in the Pac-10, and land some Texas/Midwest/Deep South kids that wouldn't want to play for the extreme left coast schools. Nutt's style of ball is a nice fit for the Pac-10. McCartney and the Buff Ath-Dept people are very reasonable..

I'm not quite sure that Pete Boone(whom was a BR banker when Saban and LSU rolled in the early 2000s..thus witnessed up close..possible too lofty aspirations of UM to return to glory days of old?), has realistic expectations of the limitations at hand for Old Myth Football in the modern age?

I'd guess if Colo offers, Nutt will bolt Oxfart.

OM fans are starting to see Nutt for what he is...an average coach who can get his teams ready to play way above their ability once or twice a year.

personally i wouldn't mind seeing him leave OM because he always brings it against LSU. but as long as he is at OM they will never be serious contenders imo.

The premise is certainly believable I know everyone here hates Nutt, personally I think for Ole Miss he's a good fit they will never recruit as many johnny five stars as us Bama or Auburn and he gets the best out of outgunned teams. I do agree he is redneck annoying but I think he is a good coach. Reasonable mids can differ on that but one thing is undeniably true and that is that the Ole Miss AD is an incompetent idiot.

This is what I think happened. Lots of good college coaching jobs are open and Nutt knows this. He had ole Sexton shopping him until he laid a huge egg in the egg bowl. Well now Mullen would/ could go to Colorado but Nutt throws his name out there to act like he got some bites. Colorado has no interest in Nutt but Ole Miss does not know that so he uses it to get him a raise at Ole Miss with the promise of a brighter future. We saw this numerous times out of him while at Arkansas.

Good luck with that Ole Miss

He got a raise last year and anyone who considers giving him a raise after this year needs to be shot. I still don't think he is trying to get leverage. There is nothing for him to be getting leverage for.

I would love to pony up and pay him whatever it took to get him here.

Gruden seems content to sit in the booth for a little longer. The college game does interest him, but if he ever does end up coaching in the SEC, I'd be stunned if it was somewhere other than Tennessee.

I would bet this has to do with Nutt not wanting to fire any of his inner circle (D. Nutt, Markuson, Shibest, Vaughn, and Decker).

I could see Boone telling Nutt he had to fire Shibest, Vaughn, and Decker. Nutt has Sexton create rumor that Colorado is interested. Scare Boone into letting him keep those three for the fear of struggling to hire a better coach.

I think this was the reason for the Fifty year speech. It was a reminder to Boone what Nutt accomplished. Also a reason the meeting was rescheduled.

Malzhan to Ole Miss.

Please NOOOO!

Two reasons:

1) Obviously don't want Malzahn to leave...yet.

2) I think I can speak for the rest of the SEC fans outside of Oxford when I say I want Nutt to stay in the SEC as long as possible. It's great to have an automatic win in the conference every year!
