It'll feel good when Mullen goes back to being undefeated to OM

Moving ND up or down on the all time list does nothing; likewise, this doesn't impact Alabama nor any other school.

Money is the motivating factor, so unless they make them pay back the money they made off those games they vacated as well, its a meaningless act. Vacating wins doesn't accomplish anything.

The NCAA has served its usefulness and should be abandoned.

Except for that's not how it works...at all.

It doesn't impact the opponents records...just the offending team's.

That would cost Notre Dame 21 wins* dropping them from 2nd all-time to 6th and putting Alabama right on their heels again

Are we counting vacated wins or not? Seems like this argument changes yearly.

If the NCAA is willing to punish Notre Dame, they are going to put Ole Miss under a long probation and take away future bowl games and scholarships.

What? Lol they cheated. They won because they cheated. They should lose their win. How can you justify letting them

Because bama has had the same thing happen to a bunch of their tainted wins. Therefore, he doesn't like it

Alabama would be 4th all time if it didn't vacate wins under Shula, so they do mean a little something.

Doesn't impact Bama at all.

Well, except that Bama is now tied with ND for all time wins.

By my calculations ND is one win ahead of Bama on the all time list now
Well, I'm confused. By mine, Bama and ND are tied.

Before this season,

ND - 892 wins + 4 wins this season - 21 wins vacated = 875
Alabama 864 wins + 11 wins this season = 875.

so basically, this is punishment without any real punishment. it's not like notre dame was going to a bowl game this year, oh wait, i didnt read anything about a bowl ban. my guess, they've been sitting on this until the right time that does the least amount of damage. 1 year probation, 5k dollar fine after she helped in 18 classes? wow, thats some serious punishment right thar. oops, forgot the most powerful vacated wins. i'm curious, had notre dame beaten bama for the natty, would vacated wins even be a part of this devastating punishment.

Vacating wins is such a useless and retarded punishment.

If I were an Alabama fan I would say the same, just imagine all the wins y'all are going to have to vacate!

Is ND going to self impose a bowl ban this year, saying how they wouldn't be making one anyways? LOL. Something they would do.

Alabama is 2nd all-time without vacated/forfeited wins. One of two teams with over 900 victories.

It's just infuriating that the NCAA overturned all of Penn State's vacated wins. Sheltering and enabling a pedophile since the 70s is apparently more forgivable in their eyes than signing with an agent or getting free/discounted textbooks.

Are there any recruiting hits? How are the current commits reacting to this news?

The vacating wins crap has turned the all time wins list into a joke.

I mean, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, they all have had vacated wins now and eventually everyone will.

The "official" record means nothing anymore, it doesn't show you who actually won the most games, which is sorta the whole freaking point of it.

Technically, a "forfeit" is rewriting history also, but I'm okay with those if the team gained a significant advantage during the game.

I do agree that "vacating" wins is a little absurd.
