Notre Dame also vacates its appearance in the 2012 BCS title game which they probably had been trying to forget anyway...

NCAA Sanctions

A vacation of all records in which student-athletes participated while ineligible during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 football seasons.

Also drops N.Dame to 6th on all time list, just ahead of Bama at 7.

That would cost Notre Dame 21 wins* dropping them from 2nd all-time to 6th and putting Alabama right on their heels again

Vacating wins is such a useless and retarded punishment.

I seem to be in the minority on disagreeing with that. I appreciate the all time win count a good bit.

Is that the same season Kelly forced a kid up in an Aerial platform during high winds?

So their Heisman candidate faked a dead girlfriend and their coach faked his players' grades, all the while being cheered by the media as America's Team.

This isn't an indictment of football.

It's an indictment of the media for not doing their job, and an indictment of all the people who read and watch media and believe what the picture box tells you to believe.

So Brian Kelly's single accomplishment is now vacated? He's definitely getting fired.

You can't vacate what happened on the field. Everyone saw it and it is stupid to act as if it didn't happen. As stupid as that alone is, there's also the fact that they don't take the loss away from the other team - so anybody ND beat still has to say they lost the game but Notre Dame can't say they won it.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Alabama would be 4th all time if it didn't vacate wins under Shula, so they do mean a little something.

That's not my point. The entire concept is flawed and utterly ridiculous.

Take the 2011 Sugar Bowl. The official record now says Arkansas lost but Ohio State didn't win. Only someone in academia could try to rationalize that logic.

I remember that. He tweeted about it being terrifying before it fell, killing him

Arkansas did Lose.

Ohio State had their win taken from them.

How should the official record be stated? That Arkansas won the game they lost? That would be even more ridiculous. I could see taking the loss away for Arkansas and only recognizing them playing 12 games that year, but that seems stupid as well.

By my calculations ND is one win ahead of Bama on the all time list now

The game should be that Ohio State won because that's what happened.

If they cheated, then punish the program going forward but don't try to rewrite history.

It is a pretty bogus "punishment".

What? Lol they cheated. They won because they cheated. They should lose their win. How can you justify letting them keep it?

If I told you during the UA/ND NCG that one of those teams would be vacating the game 4 1/2 years later, I bet none of y'all would have chosen ND.
