But in response to the OP, I think ND would have the talent to be upper-third in the SEC.

of course you do. So does every other fan from an SEC state. But ND in the SEC would be an easy sell for athletes. Besides location they offer something better than nearly every single school in our conference.

I honestly don't think today's recruits care much about historical success. Today's kids don't really care about history, period. They care about whether they will win now, and where they'll get drafted.

They would have unbelievable exposure at ND. Even if they didn't keep their tv contract.

The ND degree is also more valuable than any in the SEC. You blew your knee out? Don't worry, just get a degree and you will be set for life (usually).

Lowering the academic standards has already occurred at ND. It is still one of the many, many myths about the Irish program. Case in point... Tuitt made an astonishing 17 on his ACT.

Notre Dame has transitioned from the athlete having high academic standards to the question of "can they handle the academic load." Huge difference and the reason why they can take a guy with a 17 ACT score.

Couple all that with the fact that most of their players major in a semi-BS theatre, movie, and TV major... ala Teo... and what was a once proud tradition of high academic standards for football players has declined dramatically under Kelly.

That's why we have seen such players as Golson and Daniels get caught in academic issues. It appears they are having trouble with the load.

Will they ever join the SEC?

No way. They aren't about to split their revenue with anyone. It's that simple... money wins out every time.

I didn't bite at anything.
I was genuinely confused as to why you asked, that's all.
No big deal.

LSU never played ND all the time. Since the late sixties I think that we played them less than 10 times.

The only two conferences I see ever getting ND as an all sports member are the ACC and SEC.

I think the SEC is only an option if the ACC explodes.

ACC has better academics, a closer footprint, and a deal in place.

And the ACC still gets them into the South.

They've already got a contract with the ACC to play a 5 game rotating schedule. If they were to join any conference right now it would probably be the ACC

We do have 700 wins, a winning percentage over 60, been to like 34/35 bowl games, have 18 conference championships, were one of the winningest programs of the 90s...I mean we aren't Alabama of anything but we are a respectable program

I agree. I think ND considers two conferences to be anti-Catholic, the Big X and the SEC. The ACC is the conference they'll elect to join full-time if the shifting landscape in college football dictates it. I hope they're forced to join a league.

ND has put itself in a position to join the ACC in the event the college football playoff system forces it to join a conference.

Should have gotten my history degree from ND. Would have been making at least 6 figures out of college

ND is a better fit in the Big 10.
