Two things will be the tell sign for LSU
1. QB play
2. Their new DC (He didn't have the best track record where he was previously a DC)

Chavis left because of #1.

Has Ole Miss ever had a black player experience the thrill of being on a #1 ranked football team?
Has any MSU player, and for laughs...let's include every sport, ever experienced the thrill of winning the national championship?

The West is a funny animal, as EVERY team has a reason for hope and the expectation that their team will be better. But since we all play against each other that only works out mentally if we ignore the progress of others.
Texas A&M was not last in the West last season. Next season we start the year with a better QB, a better defense, better WR play and an improvement in our overall talent level. On paper we are a better team, but EVERY non-Aggie poster on the Rant expects us to finish last (aka worse than last season) simply because every other team feels like they are better. I honestly like that dynamic a lot, it sounds a lot like 2012 for me.
I honestly think the end result will shock everyone. And I don't just mean A&M will do great or something, I mean at the end of the season some fanbases who think they are contenders today will be making excuses to how obvious their failures were before the season started. What looks like a league of parity today will have two or three top dogs by December and then a gap before the rest.
If I have to call the team that gets letdown today I think Ole Miss is the easy winner. The defense is an injury or two away from not being a strength, and the offense is already not a strength. Things could go bad quickly for them. But every team has something like that, some element that can backfire, and so I wouldn't bet my house that it will be Ole Miss. It could be anyone! For every program (except honestly Auburn) there is some obvious flaw that maybe isn't readily apparent but could turn into a season-stopping problem by the end of the year.
I am actually happy to be an Aggie right now because our expectations about the season are all over the map. We have a lot of people doubting us, but a lot of strengths on paper and a pretty favorable schedule. If we finish last in the West we don't have to make excuses why- everyone else did that for us. But if we do better than last in the West (even by a single spot) that means we wrecked someone else's dream because there is no room for anything but a bottom feeding A&M in the Rant narrative.

Don't need to be psychic to predict poor qb play at LSU..

MSU's defense is good enough to keep the opponents under 40. That's all we need.
If you stare at this picture for 15 seconds, and then immedately look away at a plain white wall..
you won't get a boner

We have some individual track national champions
That count?
That count?

I don't expect y'all to be last. I fully expect MSU to reassume their rightful place at the bottom.

Arkansas and Ole Miss have had it 4 years out of the last 5, and both of those teams are going to put it on Les Miles harder than his Norm McDonald looking wife ever thought about doing.

Yeah because Mett, Flynn and Russell never happened, right?
MSU fans need to tread lightly here, Harris tore you a new a-hole in about 3 minutes of play last season.

State had won games with smoke and mirrors. The MSU team I saw in Tuscaloosa was far from being the best team we played all season. They had some good fortune, other teams were down, Dak caught some people by surprise but you can't put together a whole season with those elements. THe talent level was ok but not number one. Pretty MSU like actually when all was said and done.
