That's EXACTLY how the Big 12 works. There's no divisions. It's not how the SEC, who has 2 divisions, works. You're 100% backwards and wrong.
And you can have common sense. I'll use the SEC rule book that states there is no tiebreaker used in division rankings except to place a team into the SECCG

Huh? A&M finished the season as a top 5 team in the country. LSU wasn't in the top 10. Being in the top 5 >>> than not being a top 10 team. Facts and coonasses don't mix well I guess.

Didn't Texas and Oklahoma tie in the Big 12 South like 4 or 5 years ago. Texas beat OU head to head but by some strange reason OU went to the Big 12 championship game and then lost to Florida in the National championship game.
Sorry, the SEC does not do that. Head to head matchups matter even though you are embarrassed by the outcomes. LSU > A&M

LSU beat you down on your home field and they are ranked ahead of you in the SEC. Same with Florida.
I'm so sorry if finishing in 5th place diminishes Texas A&M's special season of 2012. Do better next year.
