A&M fans really have no idea of what this Lsu team is capable of doing

This could be the Washington game all over again

I don't understand how Aggie fans think they are going to score 30 on LSU.

Aggies: Manziel has progressed
Really? Against what good defense?

LSU fans: We have a good/great defense
True. And have 6 games of film to review. UF didn't have that and stopped them cold in the second half.

Aggie gets no more than 20 imo.

TAm is still playing big 12 type football. The last half of your schedule will be tough.

More like Auburn or Towson where LSU struggled against supposedly inferior opponents...

Their only 2 away games were LSU almost losing to Auburn - AUBURN, and LOSING to Florida.

You get nowhere near 30,you now face a real defense, you might get 13.

Our OL is more than just two 1st round OTs. Both our guards will play on sundays and our center is a 4 year starter.
They are great at pass protection and held up fine to UFs DL.
Overall, our talent on offense is comparable to LSUs talent on defense.

I think the biggest question will be whether we can get away with loading the box and stopping the run game. If we win that battle, we are going to get turnovers (Mett passing or on downs/punting).
Our font 7 is the strength of the defense and we have some safeties who can play the LOS as well.
Our secondary is average with a lot of young guys playing. Hopefully Mett doesn't figure out how to throw a ball this game.

My prediction:
TAMU 21
LSU 17

True, but if A&M scores first and continues early LSU will be forced to change.

Someone isn't familiar with Les Miles. He won't change his play calling while trailing in the 4th quarter of the BCSCG. (Something we'll never know about Sumlin.)

Manziel's avg yards earned - 393

LSU has faced two dual threat QB's the past two weeks, and we have given up a combined 0 yards rushing to both.

Good luck finding space Jonny Football.

Nonsense! LSU is capable of playing like they did against Towson or like they did against Oregon last year. LSU is not the most consistent of teams. A&M is just as inconsistent.

Every team under estimates how fast our d line is, and how hard it is to get to the corner. Our D ends understand their speed and "staying home" they want JF to run, I promise you. It's just different playing LSU. He's going to have to stand in the pocket and look downfield, and make great passes for big plays if he wants to put up over 30. It's possible, but I just dont see it. He won't do it on his feet. I hope he tries though, please try.

I predict half of his passing yards come in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter

Both A&M's OL vs LSU's DL which both have 2 players that are currently projected as 1st Rounders (and match up on each other) as well as having several others that may likely end up being 1st Rounders or at least playing on Sundays. Instead of trying to "dick measure" I think it is safe to say that LSU has the best DL A&M has faced and A&M has the best OL that LSU has faced. It's strength on strength any way you slice it and in all likelihood both sides will win some battles, the key will be how significant the plays are.

Manziel won't be able to order a pizza in the pocket like he has against several other teams. He also isn't going to be able to do a circle back 30 yards behind the line of scrimmage as he has also done a couple of times. What he will have though is at least a few seconds to deliver the ball. He needs to make quick and confident decisions and read the defense. That's really the key to the Spread is looking at what is in front of you and seeing where the mismatch is because there will always be one. The margin for error though will be small because LSU's D has no real weaknesses, only some areas that aren't as strong as others.

Personally I think one big factor in A&M's favor is the scheme and more importantly that LSU hasn't played a true Spread/Air Raid team this year, much less a good one. It was a huge help for UF that they played a Spread team in Bowling Green the week before A&M even though the athletes weren't on the same level. It still operated as basically a perfect scrimmage for them. The Spread is designed to always have a mismatch and to force one on one situations where if a player gets juked or misses a tackle it can turn into 6 points. It's a very stressful offense to try to stop because it is all over the field and constantly attacking from different angles. The play call is also usually made at the line of scrimmage based on the defensive alignment and it is done in a hurry up to give the D minimal time to adjust. LSU has the athletes for certain but can they make those adjustments? We shall see.

The other thing to remember about A&M is that they actually do run the ball very well, the only area they have struggled in is a few short yardage situations. Manziel leads the SEC in rushing not just because he scrambles but because he has a lot of designed runs. If he were just a RB he would be a damn good one. A&M also has 2 bruisers in Malena and Michael that both are capable of taking it to the house on any play. Then you throw in Trey Williams to the mix that is probably A&M's best player in space and a terror on screen plays.

Another big key for A&M is can they throw the ball deep? The receiver to really watch here is Mike Evans. He has become Manziel's security blanket as a 6'5 former basketball player that has a huge vertical. He has great hands and is very physical and Manziel loves to throw it up for him in 1 on 1 coverage.

The LSU O vs the A&M D is harder to predict. UF ran the ball fairly well against A&M but the real key was converting some 3rd down passes and some scrambles by Driskil that kept drives going. Can Mett execute those plays? We shall see.

In the end I think this game comes down to turnovers and other mistakes. If either team has issues here that could turn the tide. Otherwise this is a pretty even matchup that will come down to who can execute some big plays. This isn't the '11 A&M team that played not to lose in the 2nd half, they have shown that much in the last 2 weeks. This also isn't the LSU team of last year that seemed invincible. How far has A&M come? How much can LSU recreate what they had last week? We shall see.
