The NCAA not only allows schools to provide money to athletes during emergencies it provides some money for that in a lump sum to conferences. The situation described in Tunsil’s social media conversation would presumably fall within the guidelines of this fund.
The NCAA manual says “The Student Assistance Fund is intended to provide direct benefits to student-athletes or their families as determined by conference offices. As a guiding principal the fund shall be used to assist student-athletes in meeting financial needs that arise in conjunction with participation in intercollegiate athletics.”

So now that it is established that no NCAA rules violations have occurred, the matter now becomes about public perception. And perception is reality, especially amongst SEC schools whose asses have been kicked with alarming regularity recently by Ole Miss. So my question would be to Auburn fans, who recently took a severe perception hit with the Can Newton thing, but was found innocent by the NCAA...how do we, as Ole Miss fans, cope? Asses will continue to be kicked for at least 3 more years, but those asses will be kicked under the cloud of a perception that we cheated. just like Auburn experienced before they started sucking hard. also, how long before Ole Miss performance on the field feels the effect of this shitshow?

The passengers on the Titanic probably said the ship wasn't sinking.

This is similar to that.

Mom's light bill?

Yall fricking cheated. Everyone knows it, including your fans. Just stop already.

You'll either get hammered, or you won't but top 10 classes are a thing of the past for you.

So, they had an ongoing AMT payment plan set up for an emergency?

Go read ATPB if you want to see how to refute claims. This is weak.

“The university is aware of the reports from the NFL draft regarding Laremy Tunsil and potential NCAA violations during his time at Ole Miss. Like we do whenever an allegation is brought to our attention or a potential violation is self-discovered, we will aggressively investigate and fully cooperate with the NCAA and the SEC.”

uh....why didn't the University just say what you said if that was the case?

It's not a welfare program to be paid out monthly to cover regular bills and expenses. It's an emergency solution in case something out of the ordinary happens that has a detrimental effect on the student in question. The nature of the texts indicate that this was a regular series of agreed upon payments
