provide money to athletes during emergencies

You'd have to really stretch the definition of an emergency. The agreement to pay ongoing expenses probably wouldn't fit the criteria of an emergency as described by the NCAA. I'd add that "if" the situation fell within those guidelines, your administration would have certainly admitted to those payments during the previous (like ongoing) NCAA investigation. If they did, maybe you are correct and OM will be fine. If they didn't, that's an obvious cover-up and I'm sure that the NCAA asked for full disclosure on the history of LT while at OM.

A few years ago Alfred Blues family home burned down that was a emergency situation. Because the pot heads mom needed to pay a light bill is not a emergency situation.

I have heard that there is actual paperwork that the student athlete must turn in to access the fund. The school then turns this over to the SEC.

Not sure if that is true, but that is what I am told.

It is not handled via text message and it is not there to cover rent or light bills over and over.

It's definitely true. Compliance offices keep detailed paperwork for any and everything.

For instance boosters can pay for one players meal a year technically, but they have to do so through a donation to the athletic department equalling the amount of the meal and the school will reimburse the player.

Everything is documented in detail

First texts were fake. Now they're legit but it's ok bc the NCAA has the "Student Assistance Plan". You do realize that is supposed to be fore a one time emergency thing, not an ongoing "the number keeps changing" thing, right?

Also, if there is no problem with it, why didn't Ole Miss' statement simply state, "We are aware of the conversation between a student athlete and members of our athletic department. This conversation was part of the student assistance plan...blah, blah, blah"? Their statement didn't say that b/c they know that won't hold water here.

Student assistance fund has to be reported everytime it is used.

Not after the fact when you are caught.

What the frick are you talking about? I never said they were or weren't fake. The Ole Miss admin hasn't said anything either. I'm saying that their iswhat is called an 'opportunity' fund that every school and player with in our conference has access to. and THAT is the only thing that is 100% certain in this whole mess.

So, paying recruits just became totally permissible by the NCAA. Am I hearing you right?

Alot of "illegal" things are legal under some circumstance, like killing another human for instance. Bc a circumstance exists that makes it legal doesn't mean anything is fair game anytime.

You even said something along the lines of "now that it's established there was no ncaa infraction" when that is "100%" not established at this time

that's kind of what i'm hearing in all this. if it's so easy to just fill out some paperwork to get money, why are we even having the discussion of college athletes not getting paid. i wish i could just fill out a form every time my bills were due in college and i didn't feel like paying them.
