I agree, but OM was still better than both LSU and Bama in scoring, turnovers, red zone, and 3rd down defense. They were also better than Bama against the pass and better than LSU against the run.

To say they don't have an argument for best defense in 2014 is just untrue.

Why can't Ole Miss fans admit they didn't have the best defense last year. No one else thinks they do

NCAA does.

We don't care what kind of spinning y'all want to do. Ole Miss had the best defense in the nation last year. Fact. frick your spinning. Facts.

There are factors about Yards allowed too that skew total such as blowouts.

OM had the best scoring defense in the nation, not the best overall defense.

Yards per play is a much better indicator that yards per game...OM lead LSU and bama in that as well...as well as takeaways

Woah woah woah... Leave Bama out of this. I don't need any reminder about how shitty our defense was last year.

That's the best defense. I do not give a frick if you give up 100 yards per game and we give up 83274 yards per game. If y'all give up an average of 30 points per game and we give up 17 points per game, our defense is better.

Ehhh...

What if they just have really shitty special teams and give up a couple scores per game in the kicking game?

That's only a fair argument if you dissect each point scored and determine how they were scored.

More goes into calling yourself the best defense than just scoring. I'm sorry you can't accept that, but it's the truth.

ETA: As has been stated, a team can give up points while the defense is sitting on the sideline.

did LSU have the 2nd best offense in the SEC in 2011? They scored the 2nd most points per game. I mean that's all that really matters, nevermind all the defensive scores, turnovers created, and having the best punt coverage in the country. #science

You should be responding to the two OM posters with this, not me. I agree that scoring defense isn't all that matters.

Sure. I'm 100% sure Ole Miss still comes out #1

Are you retarded? Scoring offense and scoring defense are very similar since they both can be affected while the unit isn't even on the field.

By a total of 5 points, and an average of .4 points per game over Stanford. I wonder if Stanford's QB threw a pick 6 this past season? I wonder if they gave up any touchdowns on special teams?

Does that mean Stanford's defense isn't as good because their scoring defense went up from 15.84 to 16.4 because their QB made a bad read or their punt team blew coverage?

Personally, on the back half of the season, I thought we had a better defense than Ole Miss. Obviously, I'm biased but these final numbers improved big time after the Georgia game.

Arkansas:
Scoring - 4th
Total - 2nd
Turnovers - 4th
Red Zone - 12th
Rushing - 2nd
Passing - 5th
3rd Down - 4th

he's too stubborn to accept reality, but we all know if Ole Miss led the country in total defense and not scoring defense, he'd be arguing the exact opposite stance.
