Ole Miss had the no.1 scoring defense last year but were not in the top 3 best defenses in CFB

What's the point of defense? To defend from scoring, right? Who gives a frick about how many yards given up? In comparison, LSU runs a slower offense, which equates to less plays on defense compared to our defense where we run the HU spread, which results in more time on the clock, so more defensive plays.

We gave up less points/game and less yards/play than LSU last year. Same goes for Alabama also.

Maybe I'm stretching here, but perhaps you should consider that the coaches have thought about this.

And that their plan to move him inside where he would take up two blockers showed a sliver of genius. You know, so an unheralded 3* true freshman DE could rack up 7.5 sacks and earn Freshman All American honors.

Great players make the ones around them great.

And then there's the part about ending the season with the #1 scoring defense in the country.

Charted the first several plays here and wondering why I'm supposed to be wowed.

Play 1- washed out by guard in pass pro, late chip by center. For those that don't football this is a very standard pass block scheme when no one covers the C on the DL. Wait for a late blitz up the middle and if you don't have anyone to block just chip the closest guy. Not a double team

Play 2- tried to cut w RB. Makes play at los. No double

Play 3- stunt, pushed wide by t. Not in play. No double

Play 4- not in play, 4 TD gain to his size. No double

Play 5- penetration, chip by TE. Not really in the play

Play 6- penetration, hold on the guard. Not in play. No double

Play 7- playing DE. Strong bull rush forces early throw/inc. no double

Play 8- unblocked on zone read. Third guy to gang tackle. No double

Play 9- gets a little push. Sack by DE. No double

Play 10- penetration, forces QB scramble. No double

Play 11- not in play, 15 yard gain to his side. No double

Play 12- DE. RB beats him to edge for 7. No double

Play 13- not in play. No double

Play 14- not in play. Inside pass rush to a mass of bodies.

Play 15- combo block. Pushed out for gain of 8.

Play 16- DE good penetration but play was to opposite side. No double

Play 17- can't get off block, gain of 2. No double

Play 18- DE. Not in play. No double

Play 19- DE. Just stands there. No double

Play 20- DT, gets off block to make stop at los. No double

Granted, I only made notes on 20 plays but I do not believe you even watched the video. He was most certainly, without a doubt, not double teamed on 16 of the first 20 plays. Chipped twice, once ran himself into a heap of bodies, and once blocked on a designed combo block.

Depends on your goals for the player. If you are trying to give HIM sack numbers then move him to SDE and let him work. If you want him to be a two gap player that demands a double team and puts your D in a position where they are playing 10 v. 8 (2 taking RN and QB are out of equation), then they are using him wisely for the TEAM goals.

Right but team arent dedicating 2 lineman to RN every snap which is what Ole miss posters would like you to believe.

If he is that good, like Patrick Willis was in college, no one would need to defend him.

I said that ole miss didn't have the no.1 defense in CFB not SEC. Numbers don't tell the whole story. Some teams played better offenses as well. You don't think TCU or Arkansas could have put up more points if they wanted to? No one but some Ole Miss fans like you will say that OM had the best defense in CFB last year.

Since you asked, the answer is, no. No, you didn't. Name one outlet besides the clarion ledger that has declared you the number 1 defense?
