LSU coach Les Miles said Monday that he reviewed the officials’ calls made in Saturday’s contest against Alabama with the Southeastern Conference’s head of officials, Steve Shaw.

Miles said he felt comfortable with Shaw’s explanations of the penalties called, but added that he thought a key unsportsmanlike conduct penalty toward the end of the game could’ve have gone another way.

"He did a great job explaining to me the mechanics and how they looked at things,” Miles said. "I appreciate very much the candidness with which he described each call. I’m very comfortable with how he saw it.”

But Miles added later, "I think that call certainly upon review with the conference could have been made in a different way.”

"I can tell you that there were some personal fouls that appeared to happen there, and not necessarily in that play,” Miles said. "But we talked at length about what the responsibility is to safety. I think there’s a good, quality understanding of what’s expected of the officials. Certainly I’m going to get my guys to comply.”

ya think we could get Birmingham SEC clarification on P Peterson's interception in the 2010 4Q, BAMA-LSU game and have the midget give up his NCAA title? Whatcha think?

You guys can't even get your years straight. The Peterson INt was in 2009 and even if it was ruled that, you guys were still down 21-15. You act as if your offense was rolling throughout the game, when in actuality, Alabama shut LSU's offense down completely in the 2nd half mostly. But yeah you're right "Refs cheated god damnit! Never mind the fact that we couldn't stop Ingram and let Julio bust a 73 yard screen for a TD! God damn refs always cheatin'!"

Alabama didn't lose the game because of this play or the fluke touchdown. They lost because of the turnovers, specifically on the kickoffs. Ole Miss basically showed up, chilled out, and watched Alabama play some of the worst football you can play. Then they packed it up and went home with the dub. This "controversial" touchdown, while it sucked, shouldn't have even mattered.

Tom Ritter will come out at the beginning of the Ole Miss-Vandy game and say "After official review from the SEC, Ole Miss has had a touchdown taken away from the game last week so they are now 2-1. Also Bama gets a three touchdown lead to start the game two years from now. They don't get it next year because Ole Miss has received the Death Penalty.... Vandy wins this game by default. Roll Tide."

That seemsca little excessive.

I just figured they'd spot Vandy 7 and call it even.

I stand corrected on year. As for the remainder of rebuttal, familiarize yourself with the phrase "momentum change".

We have shitty officials. We already know that.
Everybody gets horrendous calls or 'no calls', so it kind of levels out, I guess.
Some of them are so fricking bad that all you can do is laugh.

Hands on the shoulder pads becomes hands to the face.
Receiver with hands in the air trying to back away becomes a block in the back.
Two bullshite penalties that have cost us already this year.

This isn't about one call in a game. It's about what every defensive minded coach complains about. Defense read lineman and when they are down field On plays it makes it harder for defenses to make a read. I would not be surprised if the QB and line of scrimmage calls get looked at as well. It's hard enough to defense read options but when a ab is allowed to pass the ball with half of his body set the line and linemen are 7 yards down field it provides an an extremely unfair offensive advantage. That's what this is about not one call in a game. No one has blamed the loss on that play but troll on.

Somehow this line of thought doesn't rhyme with your page tagline?? Are bama corners now taught to "all" react to the run sweep if they see a lineman 4 yds downfield...OH, and don't forget Mr. Cb that you're supposed to let the slot receiver run really fast 20 yds downfield before you react!

OK, defense let's take the field!

PS: Did you ever play a down of football?

While it looked like an INT to me, the ball would've been on your side of the field and your 2-best offensive players (Jefferson and Scott) had been knocked out of the game at that point...Jarret Lee had taken over at QB and he was ineffective as was LSU's offense in the 4th quarter without the 2 starters...I guess it's in the realm of possibility that they could've scored a TD but it wasn't very likely, momentum change or not...

Every coach sends in missed calls from every game, they are supposed to. I gaurantee whatever call you are blabbering about was sent in. The difference is this particular play had a rule passed to address which was then set aside because all the offensive coaches (including freeze) pitched such a hissy fit and said just enforce the rule already there. Well we see how that's working. Resulting in a pivotal illegal touchdown in a game decided by 6 points. The 1 yard rule will get approved for next year, thanks to ole miss

It happens a lot. Almost every questionable call that goes against a team and results in a loss is sent to the league office. Nick is doing his job.

Well, Hugh Freeze hasn't sent the illegal onside kick that Bama recovered to the league office. That dude slapping the ball out had a lot more of an effect on the game than a lineman who didn't affect the play.

The illegal onside kick was by far the most controversial and worst call of the game. Kind of ridiculous for Bama to bitch.

not even close. Sorry, no matter how many times you guys repeat, that's not sticking. There were 3 hands around that ball at the time it was tipped, no evidence at all the stewart was intentionally batting it forward. If you watch it at speed there was absolutely no way that was going to get called, and it was agood no call. At the very worst thats a 50/50 judgement call. Missing an offensive lineman blocking 5+ yards downfield on a pop pass is incredibly blatant, especially on a scoring play, when calling this sort of thing was stated to be a special emphasis this season, essentially the exact same play auburn did 2 years ago.

Anyone want to look at Kelly grounding the ball when DJ Pettway was taking him down?
