Nick Saban pushes for players to 'unionize,' has 'no problem' with athletes being paid as employees

quote:

"I have no problem," Saban said, via CBS Sports. "I mean, unionize it. Make it like the NFL. It's going to be the same for everyone. I think that's better than what we have now."

"Everything they do in the NFL is to create what? Parity," Saban said. "If they can have everybody going into the 17th week of the season 8-8, that would be like a dream for the NFL. You think there is disparity right now in college football? There's going to be more in the future."

Who is the employer? The athletic dept? The university? The conference? The NCAA?

He’s right. The players should unionize. The NIL collective stuff with transfers is going to be such a legal headache. The players need to negotiate terms on how these things work with schools.

A lot of people make this mistake with his comments. Alabama is not struggling with NIL. He has routinely made correct observations about the direction of the sport. He called exactly what would happen with the 4-team playoff. He’s not crying because Alabama can’t compete on NIL. He’s telling everyone Alabama and others will kill competitiveness in major football for good. And he’s right.

I think what the powers that be will determine is that’s okay.

College football died the day James Meredith enrolled at Ole Miss. Everything since then is just more salt in the wound.

He’s good with it as long as they don’t have to play Auburn, Tennessee, LSU every year. That just wouldn’t be fair to the players.

I agree with Nick Saban, players need to unionize because a strong union is the best way to look after the player's/workers' interests.

And that is why Saban ran away from the NFL. Couldn’t have better talent than everyone else.

Getting too old to know what he wants

That's exactly what I'd expect from a cocksucker.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Saban grew up listening to Pete Seeger.
Pete Seeger- Which side are you on?

I have not heard Pete Seeger in years. I remember a school teacher use to sing us his songs as she played along with his record. Woody Guthrie was another one she would play along with. I may have to look them up and take a drive down memory lane.

Yeah, because Alabama recruiting has definitely been dropping off since NIL began.
