And there you have it. Say that 90% would want him. That leaves a dozen that wouldn't, and in the rarified air at the top of the mountain where LSU and the Vols want to play, it isn't good enough. Cold reality...name me another DC given such a disparaging nickname by his own fan base. Yeah, we're glad he left, because Tennessee would suck with or without him. We're glad he's at LSU because you could do better. I can't name a single Bama fan who frets about playing a John Chavis defense because of John Chavis.

Go back and re-read what I said. I never said he wasn't successful. What I said is that he isn't elite. And elite is what you guys really want, isn't it?

Can we pick out various single instances of both Saban and Chavis over their 20 years of running defenses that seem bad? Of course.

Let's look at body of work. Saban and Chavis are top shelf... and no one else is on the shelf.
