It's pretty obvious that we need him ready if Marshall gets hurt. It was a good decision.

I think it's more than just Marshall's injury. As I've said before, Marshall has been very inconsistent with his accuracy in the passing game. He makes a good throw, then comes back and overthrows a wide-open Sammie Coates by 5 yards on the deep ball. Or skips a ball on an in-cut. We're going to have to have a reliable passing game down the stretch if we want to win some of these games, and I think Jeremy is the most consistent passer we have on the roster.

If Marshall misses some open passes early against A&M, I think we'll see Johnson in the second half if not sooner. But you don't burn Johnson's redshirt for a game you could've easily won with Wallace if you don't plan on using him a lot more this season.

JJ is a pocket passer with the ability to run.

He prefers to sit in the pocket and pass, but will run when he has to or the play is drawn up that way.

I remember an interview with him at Hoover's 7 on 7 the summer before his JR year where he said as much.

That was also the interview where he said AU was his favorite and he grew up a fan, and I sent my buddy a link to the int/ highlight and declared JJ the future of Auburn QBs

I think we got exactly what we needed from that game. Just get his feet wet. It's not the same as having a sec defense chasing him. Even if it's TAM

He is not ready to start. Marshall has done a great job for us so far and can win games for us. If healthy.

Yeah it was. The one positive I took away from his performance, when guys were wide open, JJ put it on the money. That is something Nick has struggled with some. Nick is great with his legs. He struggles in the passing game at times. JJ isn't the runner, but he is a much better passer. I heard that about JJ during fall camp.

Yes, hopefully our coach is as fickle as the worst of our fans.

Yes, but you quoted it and that is where I saw it.

I'm pretty sure the person who wrote it can figure out that I'm responding to them and not you.

I think Marshall is the guy until he fails. He has not failed. He has made a few bad plays and some very good ones. He has experience playing the position and is doing a good job for us

Johnson is a beast and is our future. I understand the excitement but bringing him along slowly is important.

We will see him in there. Gus like a two QB system.

Could be because the coaches cautioned him on running so there was no chance for injury against a FCS team. He didn't need to run. I assume he was second guessing what comes naturally in that situation, which is why he looked uncomfortable. All speculation on my part of course.

To me he doesn't look comfortable running at all. Rhett needs to teach him how to slide/take a tackle properly.

I think the only reason Marshall would come out is if his injury doesn't let him run the offense like he can. With that said I think JJ comes in and plays some downs no matter what.

Steve Spurrier used to do this a lot, and it usually backfired. You don't go pulling QBs because they miss some passes. You'll drain their confidence, and the backup will be playing scared.

He throws the ball very well. Very well!!

But the offense is very different with him in there. Though we ran for a mile Saturday, it will be more pass heavy wi JJ in there. I'm not sure he can run the read option as well as Nick if he is not as good of a run threat.
