Mountain Brook and Homewood would be next for me
Pretentious snobs don't make a nice small town and I live and work basically in Mountain Brook (crestline).

Well, you can say what you want, I enjoy living here. I've encountered plenty of assholes, but the whole area around here is amazing and still growing.

Try Corinth, Mississippi. Great charm and the downtown area has really grown and has great shops. The state's oldest drugstore with soda fountain is there also. Go and get you a world famous slugburger while you are there. It also has a ton of old historical homes that were saved when it was seized in the Civil War. It was a huge railroad town in which the Battle of Shiloh was fought over.

Kentucky is full of tiny little towns that are awesome.

I need to come up for the game this year.
You absolutely should. The only downside is that by the time that game rolls around, it will be cold and grey in mid-MO.

Ruston has a lot of culture and a very highly educated citizenry. It's a little dull, for my tastes, and it's kind of remote. The fact that it's in a dry county kind of seals its fate as well.
You haven't been to Ruston in a long time have you?? (in reference to the "dry county" part)..

Sullivan's Isle, Seabrook, Litchfield, Fripp Island, Pawley's Island, Isle of Palms.
Litchfield and Fripp to resort like for me. Isle of Palms is probably the beach I have spent the most time on(owned a house there) outside of living in Cali on the beach. Easy to access, never as crowded as other beaches in the Charleston area, but not a small town feel to it. Pawley I really like.
I guess my definition of small is where there are no major resorts and gold courses. Also very limited on chain restaurants. Beaufort is nice but overpopulated during the summer with people that act like they have never seen the ocean nowadays. Also if you get out to the Outer Banks a little north of Nags Head is a great little town called Corolla.

I live just down the road in, Mason. Fburg, is a very nice town but all the damn tourists, take away from the quietness, it could be.
Most of the small Hill Country towns, are pretty nice. The best warm water river to float or boat(when it's up) is the, Llano. I live here for a reason. It's some of the prettiest country in the state.

Topsail is nice, I visit often because I have a son stationed at Lejeune. Fripp was my favorite Carolina beach a few years back but Carova NC has taken top spot for me these days.
You must have a 4x4 to visit Carova. The only thing that is going to bother you out here are the wild horses leaving "gifts" in your driveway and the 30 plus minute drive to restock with supplies.

Abita Springs seems like a nice little town as well.
Abita is great. I included it and Madisonville with my Covington-Mandeville post.
Most liveable area in Louisiana, IMO.

I'm partial to Cape because it's home for me. The countryside around there, especially Trail of Tears park, is beautiful. It has a charm.
But I love Hermann. All the wineries, the German festivals like Oktoberfest, Maifest, the holiday stuff - it's very cool. Loved going there.
