13-1 lost to bama (SEC champion, beat pac-12 champion, beat ACC champion, should have been able to play big-12 champion)
12-1 lost to LSU (Lost at home, didn't win division, didn't win conference, got a mulligan)

The 2004 Auburn team was better than most of those teams.

Easily.

Based on what criteria? Just wondering.

the fact that you make a NCG without winning your own conference is one of many reasons why the BCS era will always be viewed differently.

The fact that you're still bitching about it three years later is one of the many reasons why everyone believes you're still not over it.

Oh, I dunno, maybe a top 20 offense and the top scoring defense in the nation that year, and NFL players all over the field. They would have beat 2002 OSU, 2006 FL, most likely the 2003 teams, and had a good shot at 2004 USC, 2005 Texas, 2009 Bama, 2000 Okie, and 2008 FL. I wouldn't say they would easily beat most of the teams on the list, but they could easily have beaten any of them outside of maybe 2001 Miami, which had a ridiculous amount of talent.

Our defense was crazy stout that year, and our offense was loaded with NFL talent. 2004 was a better overall team than 2010 for us by a fair margin.

No '05 Texas in your top 10? Not sure about that one.

That's a joke. 2004 Auburn wasn't competing against the SEC of today.

Well there is a team on that list from the same season with a lesser resume than Auburn had. Also, 2003 LSU is on the list in the same era and they lost a game by double digits at home to a 5 loss team.

2004 AU definitely belongs on the list. It's inarguable really.

I'd take 08 Florida over any other team on this list, hell against everyone but 2001 Miami I'd give you 10 points as well.

I forgot about that one. You could probably put 2005 USC on the list too

Did his team get shutout? Did they cross the 50 more than once?

What Florida did to FSU in that rematch was much more of an arse kicking than 21-0.

These numbers are skewed because of how bad that schedule was. They weren't competing in an era of SEC dominance.

ULM (5-6)
MSU (3-8)
LSU (9-3)
Citadel (3-7)
Tennessee x 2 (10-3)
LA Tech (6-6)
Arkansas (5-6)
Kentucky (2-9)
Ole Miss (4-7)
UGA (10-2)
Bama (6-6)

Winning, quality of opponents, lack of close games, dominating a couple of outstanding football teams, #1 defense in the nation, one of the best backfields in SEC history, SEC POY, 2 top 5 RBs, Thorpe award winner, outstanding special teams at every level, tons of NFL talent...

Anything else?

I just remember Mark May slurping USC as the best team ever before that game had even been played. Every analyst seemed to have them ranked top 5, and if Texas beat that team I feel like they have to rank pretty highly up there. That USC team was really good though.

We played the same number of games against ranked opponents as the #3 team on this list and easily as tough of a schedule as teams like 02 OSU 01 Miami and prob others I didn't look up.

Our schedule that year was as tough as Bama 2011 was. Played more 9+ win teams that year than Bama did in 2011. Keep on trying to pump yourself up though.
