Congress should not be wasting time on college athletics.

The NCAA has very little power to stop what’s coming down the pipe. All we can do is hope a federal court shuts it down and it isn’t looking good

I can see the day when a student who does not get a scholarship files a class action against a state university that gives athletic scholarships. The point would be that this is an educational facility, and sports are not education.

Not proclaiming to know the future or like it, but it is bound to happen. 98% of college kids are not college athletes, and someone is going to see it as a potential cash cow.

Hmm. Now I am wondering if college athletes can be considered a protected class, and get government assistance….

This right here. Especially if they prove athletes got in with lower standards. You are also seeing issues in HS as well. It used to be required for all athletes to be done after school. Now in many schools, the entire 4th block is dedicated towards athletics in addition to having after school practice. That’s 1/4 of your total academic hours being devoted towards football, baseball, and basketball.

Meanwhile those same schools are dropping advanced classes during school with an in class teacher for online classes that are a joke. They are lowering everything just to make more room for sports during the day and it’s killing education.

The courts shouldn't be wasting time with college sports either.

Every penny brought in by college athletics that doesn't go toward operating the respective institution should be taxed just as any other business. That's the only government involvement I want to see.
