Ok I'm gonna admit here - I live in England. We get a lot of NCAA football here, heavily SEC influenced, and I can really get football, baseball and to a lesser extend softball and basketball. But my usual US sports channel is currently showing NCAA gymnastics when i guess it could be showing MLB or NCAA baseball. So anyway are these girls actually any good? as in Olympics good?, because gymastics is probably one of the (sports) that England as a country isn't actually that bad at but I get the impression that if you aren't at the top when you are about 18 then you aren't really going anywhere so college gymastics seems a bit weird.

College gymnastics is kind of like college baseball. Some girls go to college, some go straight into international competition.

2012 Olympics, Kyla Ross & Jordyn Wieber, both UCLA

2008, Bridget Sloan went to Florida, Samantha Peszek went to UCLA

2004, Terin Humphrey went to Alabama, Mohini Bhardwaj went to UCLA, Courtney Kupets and Courtney McCool went to Georgia

2000, Elise Ray went to Michigan, Jamie Dantzsher, Tasha Schwikert and Kristen Maloney went to UCLA, Dominique Dawes went to Maryland

Gymnastics is a sport. It requires every bit as much athletic ability, training and hard work to do what they do as any sport you want to name.

That's the thing. Just because it requires athletic ability (and Teatless Romanian Midget Flipping does, without question) does not make it a sport. How you win does.

Nobody gives a frick if Le Bron's toes were pointed when he smashes a backards dunk in somebody' mug. Did the ball go through the basket? It's worth the same as a nerdy white dude layup. Nobody can score it different based on how it looks.

Golf requires nearly zero athletic ability. But how many stroke did it take? Don't care how pretty.

If one's opinion determines the score, it is not a sport. It's entertainment.

Such as the staff of officials required to give an opinion on every football play to determine legality?

I would sort of disagree. The best athletes tend to hit their prime before college(16-18 years old). I believe all of the US girls who took home gold in 2012 were still in HS. I see college as a sort of retirement for elite gymnasts. A way to still compete, doing easier routines, while earning a free education.

Now, we're talking females obviously. Males do better as they age a bit more.

So there's no judging whether or not a player held in football, a pitch was a ball or strike in baseball or a foul was committed in basketball.

Ever heard of a Field Judge, Back Judge or Side Judge?

Don't judge me bro.

I was in love with that girl. She's still hot. And a cop in Missouri these days.

They can effect the game, for sure, but they don't make up the score. They just enforce the rules.
