I think LSU would struggle to be in most people's top 10 as a program currently.

Bama
Ohio State
Michigan
Clemson
Florida State
Oklahoma
Florida
Penn State
USC
Wisconsin
Stanford
Auburn
Georgia
Washington

That's not an ordered list, but I think all of those programs are in better shape currently than LSU.

All time:

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Oklahoma
4. Southern Cal
5. Notre Dame

Right now:

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Florida State
4. Clemson
5. Oklahoma

Meh

I didn't want to get greedy, but aside from their recent BIG Champ Penn St is pretty meh, and USC is basically the only west coast name anyone cares about but also meh. I also really like Chris Petersen so I left off Washington.

ETA: LSU has recruited well for about 20 years now (yes, Dinardo started recruiting well, IMO) and is the only P5 team in LA. I'm not ready to anoint or damn O's tenure, though I think we could have done better. Time will tell.

Also, LSU is a historically Top-12 (depending on source top 10) team. Plus, being in the SEC is both a blessing and curse. Win all but 1 or 2 games in the SEC and you're better looked upon than many others. Though it is easier to lose more than 1 or 2 games.

I think you can make arguments that if O manages the program well and surrounds himself with good people (I think Aranda & Canada qualify as good) then LSU could be set. Question does remain how long that is actually a tenable setup.

This is literally you begging for validation. Because you asked if LSU is in your list no one will say yes. You are an idiot.

your hatred for OSU is funny.

OSU has the best winning % of any of those 5, and has won a title more recently than all but Bama. Additionally, FSU was losing in the Peach Bowl last year to Houston while OSU was beating ND in the Fiesta

To me it is Bama, OSU, then a bit of a gap, with Clemson and FSU being 3 and 4. 5 you can throw Michigan in probably or OU.

This will change significantly based on what happens in the next month

I am as a big an LSU fan as anybody and I wouldn't have us too 5. I don't think most people would. We are low top ten until we see what the next couple of years holds.

And is LSU in your list?

No time frame defined so I will go with 5 years

Bama
Ohio State
Clemson (all have appeared in multiple playoffs)
Oregon (top 5 3 of last 5 years)
Oklahoma

Based on recently winning & contending for championships, coaching, player talent level & recruiting:

1) Alabama
2) Ohio State
3-5) Clemson / FSU / Oklahoma

Why because of Harbaugh? Because so far Wisconsin has done more in that conference than UM. He has to prove it first and so far UM and Harbaugh have had 2 years of failing when it mattered.

I think you're gay. LSU is top five. Especially after finishing as the second best team in the SEC this year.

Define what you think Dynasty means, because these 3 teams are fundamentally different for you to be considering them "on the cusp" or "entering" the same arena.

Clemson and Michigan are not far off of Alabama and Ohio State IMO. I think Harbaugh is a weirdo but he is a good coach and he hasn't had a chance to get the talent there that Saban and Meyers has. Clemson may win this whole thing and considering they made it to the playoffs two yrs in a row says that Dabo is now an elite coach. I would take him at Alabama after Saban departs no questions asked.

Fair question, and I wouldn't live and die by that pick.

Based on Harbaugh, how they've improved, competitiveness in recruiting, being a traditional powerhouse with a huge fanbase and money to make things happen, and just a general feel I get about how they're trending, I don't think it's insane to have them there.

Well, let's be honest, Alabama's 2nd team would probably be a top 10 team nationally.

This is subjective, obviously. What criteria should I use? If we're talking 5 best jobs, I would put Texas in there. If we're just talking 5 best programs right now, then I wouldn't
