Trindon Sturdivant is another one for UGA. He was a protege at left tackle as a freshman and was almost guaranteed to be a starting LT in the NFL one day.

I really thought Greg Childs had first round pick written all over him before his horrific knee injury. Was never the same after that.

Alabama 5 star offensive lineman Tyler Love.
I thought his career was done in more by his love for the frat boy lifestyle than by injuries.

Love was a preppy Mtn Brook baw. Big difference. Hoover has done right by Bama for the most part.
Marlon Humphries
John Parker Wilson
Josh Chapman
Corey Reamer
Michael Nyeswander
Will Lowrey
Probably missing one or two but that's more than the ones that didn't pan out
Kerry Murphy
Christian Bell
Patrick Crump

This is the name I most associate with Saban coming in and firing up the REC machine and the gloves coming off. After the grade change at Hoover, and not a damn thing was said about it, that's when I knew, "oh boy, things are gonna be different from now on".

Look I wish Chapman would've stuck with his Auburn commitment too, but as far as he was concerned with the grade change stuff a counselor essentially bumped his grade up from a 69 to a 70. Something that was done for regular non-athlete students as well. A self righteous, homosexual, math teacher who was a known hater of the football team reported it because it was his class and the counselor didn't ask permission first. Chapman is a good guy, always has been. He made up for that grade and even raised his grade in two other classes in summer school after his senior year before enrolling at Bama. He would have been cleared had he gone to Auburn too, and this happened for him before he flipped to Bama too so it wasn't their doing.
The real academic scandal was with Murphy. He was a senior in my 10th grade history class that was taught by the DL coach. He showed up to class about 3 times that semester and when he did he sat at the teachers desk and slept or played computer games. I thought he was a teacher aide and didn't even know he was in that class until all the details came our after everything broke. But he went to prep school and earned his way back to Bama before the tragedy of his brothers murder sent him off the rails.

David Fair, running back at MSU...a physical specimen. State fans will know who I'm referring to.
Was reading through before adding him to the list.
Several people who would be qualified to judge consider him the best RB to ever play in MS, that is a pretty bold statement.

Marcus Monk Arky Wr. I remember as a kid watching him destroy secondaries!

Are you just talking about football?
In basketball, the best example I can think of is Randy Livingstone, who played for LSU. He was high school co-national player of the year along with Jason Kidd and was just as good. He showed brilliance as a freshman teaming with Ronnie Henderson in the backcourt. He blew out his knee and was never the same either at LSU or bouncing around the NBA and International ball.

Tony VanZant for MU. Consensus #1 player out of HS. Tore up his knee in the final post season all-star game and never was the same. A super dynamic RB who had it all, sad he could have been LT before we ever heard of Tomlinson.

Livingston was the number one high school recruit in the country. I remember that Livingston/Henderson back court. Also remember Pitino coached his players to run the press right at Livingston and his knee. I was glad for the wins and it's big boy pants basketball but in the back of my mind I felt a little bad for him too
