Sure he squandered but they should have fired him last season. Either fire him or bring him back another year.

Instead they told the media they were firing him and then brought him back for 4 more games

You don't think a slam dunk hire couldn't take this team with the talent we stockpiled and win something?

We aren't exactly leaving the cupboard bare.

Based on how they've handled things starting last year, I don't have complete confidence that they'll have a slam-dunk hire. But they obviously aren't messing around anymore and have chosen a clear direction.

Saban lost to ULM his first year at Alabama.

It takes time to get the process down for any coach.

This is what certain fan bases are desperately trying to convince themselves. That LSU is completely depleted and it's a complete rebuild.

That was a shock when Saban lost to them because I never thought he could lose to a program as bad as ULM's. Bama's talent level then is not what ours is now (though he still should've never lost to them). It does take a little bit though for your players to learn your system sometimes.

The talent certainly isn't an issue. We both know what the challenge is right this second and it will be to make sure these kids don't lose their heads and their hearts. You pray they play for pride for another 8 weeks but I'm telling you that's not always the case. There is a lot of 5* WTF going on tonight and it's hard to break them of an IDGAF attitude if it sets in.

It just seems to me that firing a coach midseason and hiring an interim from staff is essentially writing off the season. Things will get worse (the rest of this year) before they get better (new coach next year). Maybe I'm wrong

I see the point here. 18-22 year old kids are fragile. It makes sense that they would respond negatively in this situation. That said, Ethan Pocic's interview told me a lot about how the players felt about Les. It's almost like they knew it was coming and more than anything, they expected it.

I think the biggest hit to the next couple years will be taken in recruiting. The man who convinced a bunch of 18-year olds that the world revolved around them was just relieved of his duties from the institution that promised that. Won't be surprised to see the decommits now until February.

a great coach can turn a program around quickly

but i don't think we need a complete turnaround.

its not like we sucked all these years. we just need to get over the wall.

LSU has had top ten classes the past ten years. The talent is there. Tennessee hired the wrong guy out the gate, and Kirby is still early on at Georgia. LSU has a good amount of talent. They should be fine

Yeah but it's not like we play in the big 12. We play in the SEC West during the Saban dynasty years where everyone in the west is playing up. We should have a good team with Hodor as coach but I wouldn't expect to win the west year 1 with a new guy.

I'm going to say this and likely be chastised for it but, I know for a fact that the players were invigorated, excited, chanting another coach's name and ready to get to work upon the conclusion of Miles's talk with the team. Numerous recruits from our current class are already on record as stating they are committed to LSU. Period. This is in no way is your typical, mid season firing. That was precisely the point and why they didn't wait. This is about LSU. Not Les Miles.

You aren't wrong.

I jsut don't think we would get embarrased with a slam dunk hire.

IDK. I am hopeful as frick.

Starters we lose:

Offense:
Fourmette - RB
Pocic - C
Jeter - TE
Boutte - RG
Dural - WR

Defense:
Bower - OLB
Beckwith - MLB
Riley - ILB
Neal - DE
White - CB
Jefferson - FS

Delahoussaye - K

Who knows what other juniors besides Fournette decide to leave

If that is 100% true, your better sacrifice a goat to make sure the Gods of Football hire that chanted name.

This season? With Interim Ed Orgeron? Your chances of beating Bama went way down. You know that right?

You really believe that? It was 0% chance with Les. Ed O gives us at least a 2% chance.

I only mentioned the chanting of the name to further express to you that this is about LSU. Miles is gone. The players know it. They accept it. I fully expect at least two losses the rest of the way but, don't expect a let down and your typical uninspired, sloppy play Miles football team the rest of the way.
