In context he is still making the mistake of calling UF a lateral move from MSU. He's just lashing out. No biggie.

He's just upset that no one will hire him away from Starkville.

This thread has proven that over half the rant doesn't know what the word lateral means in this context. He isn't talking about the prestige of the jobs. He's merely talking about moving from DC to another DC position rather than moving to a HC position.

Coach speak to rile up those in Starkville. As long as they believe, he's paid.

Two different times!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mullens mad that UF would not even consider him for the HC job.

You sound chapped that Mississippi State is currently a better job than Florida.

Someone once said:

"I'm not pleased when guys make lateral moves because it's a little bit human nature to think, like my dad used to say, the grass is always greener on top of the septic tank,"

"You always think it's better someplace else. You kind of let your ego get involved, and you make moves that you shouldn't make that really aren't in your best interest from a career standpoint."

"So I'm not happy when guys do that. But anybody on our staff who can move up, we would like to help them do that."

While Florida isn't the greatest of coaching destinations, MSU ranks very low. You guys have Saban and the SEC West to contend with. Plus your location, and facilities = equals not a very good job right now.

Florida don't want the AP 2014 Coach of the year because the AP 2024 Coach of the year don't want Florida.

Nobody blames him either..

All this is true, but as Mullen has preached for 5 years now: If you can win in the West you can contend.. He saw the changes in SEC Demographics and jumped ship.. Would MSU have been ranked #1 that long if they were in the East? Nope..

How do you know? The program has only been ranked number one for about a month, of an entire century of football.
