Aren't y'all trying to get Sammie Epps, who was kicked off the Ole Miss football team, to enroll at State next year?

Good for State.

But knowing how it works, it must have been either really bad, multiple offenses, or involved a professor that wasn't playing games and demanded the expulsion.

It is unusual to see a football player kicked off for something like this. I bet he got on the wrong side of a hardass professor.

Fwiw, that is horribly vague. What is "unauthorized aid?" Like, I can't help my roommate on his algebra homework unless I am a tutor?

Probably multiple offenses. Even non-student athletes get two strikes from what I remember though.

Eh. Plagiarism can lead to expulsion if it's bad enough. It has to be copy and paste bad, but it can still happen.

Either that or buying a paper and turning it in as your own. That was a huge no-no when I was in school.

Violation of the school's honor code? Think what would have happened had he stumbled through a plate glass window in a hotel room in drug based stupor? Oh. Right. The Black Bears have no honor code.

He was suspended from the team and I guarantee you Nkemdiche is not currently enrolled in classes at Ole Miss, soo... what else should we have done. Team Vote?

When a faculty member chooses to handle the case individually, this is the process:

A faculty member may handle cases directly in the following situations:
1.It is a first time offense.
2.It is not anticipated to require an outcome greater than an XF..
3.The student does not request referral to the Student Honor Code Council.

A faculty member may refer the case to the Student Honor Code Council at any point in the process.

quote:

Student Honor Code Council- When a student does not accept responsibility for violating the student honor code, disagrees with the recommended sanction of the course instructor, or has a prior violation of the Mississippi State University Student Honor Code; the case is entered in the Student Honor Code Council hearing process. The Student Honor Code Office staff will work with the reporting faculty member and student to identify a convenient time to conduct the hearing. Hearing panels are composed of three faculty members, two student members, and one non-voting chair. The panel will make the determination if a student is responsible for violating the Student Honor Code, if the student is found responsible, the council will also decide on an appropriate sanction.
