Recruiting is basically stuck in a rut at the moment, but we had 4 guys commit as 4 stars who became 3 stars very quickly. So how do you recruit well if you have no control over the ranking sites like other do?

LOL He isn't coming back to MSU. Not the way other team in the conference are recruiting much better with NIL and transfer portal.

I mean Leach died, and it was days before Signing Day. The circumstances were clearly extreme.

Then bring in Hal Mumme or something as a stop-gap measure. Don't promote a guy with no HC experience and watch him dismantle the entire offense with a talented senior QB. Sheesh.

Hal's too old at this point, they shouldve went after a Ben Arbuckle or another Air Raid guy to carry on what they were building and not hand the keys over to a guy whos gonna blow it all up and fire the entire offensive staff which was reason he got the job to befin with, to keep continuity for the team who just lost their HC

It’s an NIL problem.

Arnett needs to go. Today. He can’t get the job done. Keeping him any longer only prolongs the rebuild and how long it takes. He can’t win with the senior team this season, he won’t win with way less talent next season and no upcoming talent after that. We know he would be fired after a winless SEC season next year, so might as well go get a real coach now”

Please stop with this drivel. We are six games into the season and you are advocating for the coach to be fired today.
Do you realize what you just typed out?

Let the season play out first. Last year about this time you were probably wanting Leach to be fired. But thankfully he was not fired and we went on to win 9 games.

While this season has been disappointing to this point, at least let the season finish.

Now go have yourself a still drink, relax and the sun will come up in the morning and all will be well.

As I see it, you hired an unproven head coach with no HC experience. To compound it and to matters worse he promoted his LB coach to DC, who also had zero experience as an DC. Add to that, there’s not a single a NFL caliber player on defense. The irony is that Arnett is a defensive coordinator by trade. Your defense can’t pass rush or have any type pass protection. Even WKU’s 3rd string QB completed over 70% of his passes. Milroe completed over 80%. That is bad folks!

Who you want as HC?

Tom Herman is a name that’s getting popular on MSU message boards

Mumme was awful during his 4 seasons at Belhaven. His record there was worse than his predecessor.

Agreed. You made a quick hire at the time. Have the balls to fix it quickly when it fails.

That's right, most people don't realize we had no AD when Leach passed. We were in an absolute cluster situation that could have struck any program.

Leach was a godsend for MSU and the SEC. He was loved by all SEC fans, because he was a loose cannon, on his proverbial pirate ship, with a cup of hot coffee or a popsicle, all the damn time. And he had y'all on the precipice of competing in the league.

To follow that masterpiece with Arnett is akin to hiring Mr. Magoo to replace Nick Saban.

Dude is done. He might go back to a big 12 or acc program where nobody cares if you go 7-5 every year.

They were in a really bad situation when they promoted Arnett. I think there was a fear of mass transfers if they brought in a whole new staff after the head coach passed away. I’m not sure what the right answer was.

I get why you give Arnett a shot under the circumstances. Just hasn’t worked out so far, but you can’t let it destroy the program.

Signing class should never be the reason. But to fire a coach just when he is getting his feet wet is a bad look. And a bad move to be honest. Give the guy a chance to figure it out. Otherwise who wants the job? Just to get fired after one damned year. State fans are delusional.
