You are correct in that the biggest part of it isn't. However, the NW corner and North Central portion does have a different 'flavor'.

If you're comparing north and south, then 'blandness' would fit better. South definitely brings more flavor to the table, in everything we do.

NWA Arkansas is completely different than the Delta/Grand Prairie (SE Arkansas)

It's completely different than anywhere else in the state, really.

Tennessee is not deep south, even if only because of geographical location. Culturally there is plenty of continuity in the southern and southwestern regions, but it's called the mid-south for a reason. There is virtually no difference between rural eastern North Carolina and rural Mississippi, culturally speaking. But NC is not deep south.

Wasn't the SECOT board made for stupid threads like this?

French fry corndogs aren't even southern.

The western rural parts of North Carolina remind more of West Virginia than the Deep South.

In Short,
West NC = Appalachian Hillbillies
East/South NC = Southern Rednecks

Kinda like how BRLA isn't southern. It's just a bunch of gel-head douches wearing affliction & tapout shirts

Oh, and thugs. Whole bunch of thugs.

you have Lafayette and Baton Rouge mixed up. BR is very southern/SEC-esque.

Florida on the other hand should be relocated to NY/NJ.

All of Arkansas is Southern, but only the delta of Arkansas is Deep South. Helena is about as Deep South as you can get.

Arkansas is a fairly diverse state in regards to climate, culture, and etc. We are all proud "Southerners'...even in the far northern reaches. The Delta, were I was born and raised, is definitely deep south in culture. The Delta is the birthplace of blues and Rock and Roll and encompasses the eastern third of Arkansas, the western quarter of Mississippi, the Missouri bootheel, and downtown Memphis. I grew up Northeast Arkansas 10 miles from Memphis. It's crazy but when you cross the bridge into Memphis it still feels deep south downtown but once you get a few miles east it has a different vibe....not deep south. For example ...we call ditches Bayous in the delta of Arkansas...You will not here that just across the bridge in Tennessee. Arkansas has a Gator Hunting Season, native Sabal Palms that grow wild in the southern half of the state, and Spanish Moss is also a native indigenous plant....When people think of Arkansas they usually think we are a bunch of Mountain folks but that is far from the truth.

Florida might be the most Yankee state to everyone who lives in the south, but it's still the best state in the SEC. But I love all the states

Texas and Florida because they're the only ones voting for JoePa in a poll that pits him vs Summitt. Everyone else in the South, even non-SEC teams is showing love. Summitt has 8 titles and 100% graduation, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and Texas and Florida voters are picking the guy with 2 titles who covered up for a kiddy diddler.

Y'all just flipped the vote towards Pat so you're southern again to me. Texas you're still on the list. The rest of the south has spoken. Just say no to the coverup king and YES! to one of the greatest coaches period of all time: Coach Pat Summitt.
