Arky isn't yankee, but it isn't normal southern either.

It has more of a mountain culture and political attitude more akin to parts of TN and NC, IMO. Not appy, but offbeat from the rest of the south.

Atlanta is Yankee. There is nothing Yankee about South Georgia.

We haz lots of Yankeez. They normally stick to the outsides and leave the middle to the rest of us. Orlando is the exception.

Atlanta, you mean. Place is infested with carpet-baggers. Like a damn malignant tumor.

ETA: That was my 1000th post. I could've done a lot worse.

Agreed. Atlanta and Georgia are two different states.

More like snake handling backwards yokels who elect socially conservative democrats.

North Florida is not Yankee. Panama City, Tallahassee and Jacksonville feel/seem very Southern to me. Orlando too really but they get a lot of visitors because of the attractions. Tough to get a local feel.

Would be better to do a "most southern SEC state" thread, in which case, SC would win hands down.

All of those cities are decidedly not southern. Don't confuse the ghetto-white trash cultures of Tallahassee and Jacksonville for southern.

Probably true, although your element (SCAR) is probably among the least southern.

You think a yankee state produced Johnny Cash, Bear Bryant, and Bill Clinton?
