I cannot believe Alabama agreed to this, yet they would never agree to play at Southern Miss.

LSU and UGA have done some good ones IMO

The extra game rule is still in place if you travel to Hawaii. BYU is doing it this year.

UGA played at Tulane in 1972.
@ Navy in 1916.
Weird.

Maybe a tropical storm that was gonna hit Ruston and miss Shreveport?
the game was scheduled to be the season opener. A hurricane or tropical storm ended up cancelling it all together. It was scheduled to play in Shreveport all along. I believe both teams had the same bye and the game was moved to that date.

I know this is SEC world, but I'm chiming in anyways because I'm awesome!
Since 1987 for Oklahoma:
1996 @San Diego State, losing 31-51
1998 @Texas Christian, winning 10-9
1999 @Louisville, winning 42-21
2001 @Air Force, winning 44-3*
2012 @UTEP, winning 24-7
*while AFA is a mid-major, I think there's an exception when having the pleasure of going to the home of a service academy for a game because of all the pageantry pregame and halftime. That's what I got to experience in 2001.
Oklahoma has played at Tulsa several times but they are in state so I don't count that.
Future:
2020 @Army. Again, an exception. Not sure if game will be at West Point or MetLife Stadium.
2021@Tulane. Most likely in the Dome.
Future 3 game set with Temple with one being played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly.

Totally had no idea. I'm guessing it's a fairly new one?

LSU used to play at Rice every once in a while, most recently in the early 1980s, but they were in the SWC then, which was a major conference. Way, way back, we once played at the University of Havana in Cuba. That's about as random as it gets.

Yeah was built within that last few years. Small ~30,000.

I know they were in the WAC in 1998, but they were a SWC team until it folded.
Random fact: TCU won the Williamson Poll National Championship in 1935 with a record of 12-1. They beat LSU in the Sugar Bowl 3-2.

Paul Williamson wasn't a poll.

Auburn played @ Syracuse in the first major sporting event in the state of New York after 9/11. Governor Pataki was there and addressed the crowd before the game. Everyone had American flags. People were crying at the national anthem. We had no shot. We might as well have been wearing Taliban jerseys that night. That place was packed and we got drubbed. Dwight Freeney must have sacked Jason Campbell 10 times in that game.

Never though I'd see LSU FOOTBALL play in the Carrier Dome
This. On top of that, our idiot athletic department schedulers had us going up there first. We always seem to play at the opponents first in most home-and-home series in football.

I hate non power 5 road games with a passion, but that Nevada game was pretty damn good. They had Kaepernick at the time.

Nothing weird about this. This was back when it was all about football and not about protecting your brand..
Now teams say "its a no win situation" to go play somewhere different. They would rather play at home against cupcakes and their conference and a 1 off neutral site game.
