As far as non P5 road trips go that's probably one of the best though. Brand new stadium (I think they serve booze) and a top tier college town. I would for sure make that trip

And a decent program. Yea, that'd be a fun one. I'd definitely be down for a Fort Collins trip.

After looking at it more, it does look fairly nice. They are on a little bit of arise overall. Colorado would be a fun place to visit anyway

In Mizzou and A&M's defense, the move to the SEC threw our schedules into flux and got us to agree to some pretty terrible games with no other recourse. The Arky State, Uconn and MTSU games were all due to realignment. Wyoming was scheduled when a former assistant was head coach there (of course, not there anymore). The game at Toledo in '14 was a game that Pinkel wanted because that's where he played.

We've tried to buy out several of these (ASU comes to mind) but they weren't having any of it. Hopefully we'll be able to buy out the Wyoming and MTSU games at least, but I'll be surprised if they take the money. We paid MTSU to come to Mizzou last year and they won, so that turned out really well

Games prior to '14, I have no excuses, other than it didn't seem that odd when it was happening...don't know if it's more common in The Big 12 or what. First game I thought of when I saw this thread was the one against Troy, which was of course a loss.

Mizzou was a big12 team. That type of scheduling wasn't that unusual on the Big12

Alabama at Duke was the return game of a home-and-home from 2006. It got delayed for some reason. Maybe Saban instituting all the neutral site games.

This wasn't uncommon for us. We've had Texas, Texas A&M, FSU, Miami, WVU, etc play us at home when we were Independent. Man, I kind of miss that old Baseball stadium we played in

That's probably the best explanation I've heard for why Alabama would end up playing a game at Rajun Cajun Stadium.

I think I have a better one.

Yea we did - beat them like 63-14 or something.

Yeah but you made sure to leave the game out. I also see some cherry picking

Also known as "The 2PAC Game", because our players blamed the loss on having to play shortly after his death

Man, are their faces going to be red when they discover 2Pac is still alive, well, and coaching under the name "Kevin Sumlin."

Has anybody mentioned Alabama @ Hawaii in 2002 and 2003?

Series tied 1-1

Those weren't random road games, that was Alabama sticking it to the NCAA and using an obscure rule to play an extra regular season game.

Playing at an ACC school is not the same as playing @Umass, @UAB, @South Alabama, @Troy

Not even close

Still lame no matter the excuse.

Take your punishment like a man and sit down instead trying to "stick it to the man" like some whiny spoiled teenager

There were 2 ways to play more than the allotted 11 or 12 regular season games back then - either play in a designated "kickoff" game (FSU did it a lot in the 90s) or play @ Hawaii without expecting them to return the favor. That's why BYU was able to play 13 regular season games in 1996.
Of course the Hawaii thing is no longer in place thanks to Bama.
