Probably Stipe, Mills, and Buck of REM

Although I think it's awesome the majority of REM attended UGA, did any of them graduate? You could argue they aren't alumni if they didn't.

All dropped out in 1980 but stayed in Athens and were pretty active at shows downtown, at frat parties, etc. All or most still live in Athens, own restaurants, and are around town and campus a bunch, too. Different time back then. Nowadays it'd be considered foolish and insane to drop out to pursue a music career. Back then, there just wasn't any need to go to college if you didn't need the degree to do what you wanted to do.

Rick Perry maybe. Long time gov and presidental candidate.
Chris Tomlin - huge in Christian music.
REK or Lyle Lovett - country music.
Jaosn Castro - musician & was on American Idol.
Roland Martin - CNN
T. Boone Pickens - He technically went to A&M for 2 years and I think everyone knows him. I wouldn't exactly count him.

Holy shite

That is an all star lineup of shite.

A homophobe (ironic for aTm), a christian music singer (also probably a homophobe), a country musician I've never heard of, a reality show contestant, some dude named Roland, and a guy who has been uber sucessful... probably because he wised up and transferred out.

Two country musicians. Do you really not know Robert Earl Keen or Lyle Lovett?

And haven't you heard? You must be new to the rant. Ags aren't homophobes. We celebrate our manlove.

Some of you need to look up famous. Tim Cook is not more famous than Octavia Spencer.

Like maybe 0.0001% of the population would know who James Andrews is over Rex Reed

Didn't realize REK stood for Robert Earl Keen so I stand corrected on that one, he is great.

Never heard of Lyle Lovett, not a big country music guy...

As soon as the UGA fan claimed REM despite not graduating, my first thought was auburn could claim Buffet.

Lyle Lovett is a great musician, but a weird guy. Married to Julia Roberts for a while.

I think Georgia Tech gave him an honorary degree though.
