2006 LSU and it's not close. Ton of NFL talent but lacked one single leader.

Because no other team we played that year didn't? UF were a bunch of scrubs? Please we had two tough losses, one to the bcs champion. Still represented the sec in the sugar bowl and beat the media darling ND and prized qb Brady Quinn. We heard how much better Quinn was than jmarc heading into that game and how Weis was going to exploit our D.

As far as LSU is concerned. 2008, Start of the rp era just for him to frick up. Thought we might be decent after beating Auburn, then we imploded. 2012, finally going to see Mett just for tm7 to be kicked off and losing the oline. Expected more out of those two seasons.

I can still hear Hester made another 4th down conversion from 2007.

-2006 LSU. Probably LSU's best team ever (or maybe 2nd best behind 2011). Seemed like their offense averaged 40+ppg that year, but they scored like 2 points against Auburn & UF. Think they ended up finishing 3rd or 4th in the West that year.

I would not call that team dissapointing. We lost 2 early on the road and still won a BCS game.

In fact, a strong argument could be made that, at season's end, LSU was playing hte best football in the country by far.

That was a great team. After getting screwed by the refs at Auburn and throwing away the UF game with 5 turnovers, a blocked punt and an unforced safety, they ran the table to finish 6-2 in the SEC, 2nd in the west behind Arkie despite beating the Piggies in Little Rock. LSU went on to destroy Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl and finished #3 in the country, higher than they were ranked in the preseason. It would be a major stretch to call that team a disappointment.

No. That team won 11 games.

2000 Alabama was coming off an SEC title with a returning starting quarterback and a top 3 ranking.

They proceeded to win three games, lost all their out of conference games (UCLA, UCF, Southern Miss), got shut out twice at home (Southern Miss, Auburn), and finished dead last in the SEC-W.

Forget the BCS era. I don't think there's been a more disappointing team in the history of the SEC than 2000 Alabama.

Yeah, Alabama has been shutout something like 5 times in my lifetime and THREE of them came that season (2000). The defense that year was actually quite good, but the offense was the worst offense Alabama has had in 50 years.

Bama was only shut out twice in 2000, but the point still stands. Alabama's only been shut out 8 times in the last 50 years, and 3 of those 8 happened in Dubose's four seasons.

2012 Arkansas. Preseason Top 10. Finished 4-8 (2-6) including a loss to ULM.

So by your logic, any team that finishes lower than they were ranked to start the season should be included in here.

By your logic, UF is a disappointment most years.
