To the OP. I lived in Montgomery for 5 years before moving to my present location. Montgomery is like most cities. You can always find one or two nice places to hang out. You found one of them. Go to the other one later and then get the hell out and never turn back.

I would highly recommend taking a guided tour of the town with such a rich tapestry of southern history. Civil war landmarks, civil rights landmarks, boil weavel monuments, GWC peanut factory. Pretty solid.

Check out the new Kangaroo station on the Southern Blvd. about a mile East from Mobile hwy. as their moving East now and that's where the Really good deals are at.
I stopped at that gas station to get gas as it's right off Int.65 and from beating off the panhandlers and turning down the hookers it's almost impossible to get gas.
