1048 was OK in the 90's. No idea now.

I still like 1048. I also like to go to Bud's and Leroy.

ETA: Pine Bar is decent as well.

Where I'm staying it's very nice, you can walk around with open containers and the cops are cool as hell. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly. This trip has changed my attitude toward the entire state of Alabama.

Because it's not as great as you say it is?

There used to be a really cool, slightly shady, jazz and blues club. It was in a basement downtown. Every time I visit, I get dragged to Head on the Door.

You are most likely thinking of Sous La Terre. Let me guess, 2 old guys playing a keyboard and a trumpet?

It's pretty cool. The pizza at Sa Za's was great, way better than the pizza on Bourbon Street.

Arguably the best bar in Montgomery, IMHO. You just have to be able to stay out late.

Go to the Eastdale Mall tomorrow night around 7 PM and let us know how much you enjoy the city after that...

Take body armor.

I wish I enjoyed the city as much as you. I live close.
