do you still chose not to wear one today and does it honesty and truthfully make you feel safer that you don't wear one and do you tell everybody you know they shouldn't wear one because of your one anecdotal story?

obviously i will never apologize for not having a seatbelt on that night. however, i'm sure you will feel better knowing i wear it now. mainly because i dont want a ticket. i've got more, but you wouldnt like it.

take the seatbelt debate to another thread.

What debate? It's not like global warming with bad science. It is almost unheard of to unbuckle a corpse. Ask an EMT.

It really doesn't matter what kind of accident you're in if you don't wear your set belt you will be extremely lucky to survive or come away without injury.

That stinks. Hope that he is able to recover quickly. I predicted earlier this year that Harold Brantley would be the next in line of Mizzou DL with two first names to win DPOY.

He's got a long road ahead of him. I'm sure that the MIZZOU community will support him as he starts his road to recovery. I pray that he will have a speedy and complete recovery. I'm just glad to hear that his injuries weren't life threatening.

I try to avoid sharing stuff posted on a pay site, but given the situation and the concerns...

He has an aunt and uncle in the KC area who were able to get to him fairly quickly and his parents left PA last night.

Mixed reports on the specifics of the injuries. Some saying a broken foot or ankle.

After seeing those pictures, I think everyone would be thrilled if that's the extent of his injuries, whether he plays football or not in the fall.

Sounds similar to TN's Charles Mosley's wreck before the season in 2014. He hurt his knee bad but was back practicing this Spring. Hope for same speedy recovery for Brantley.

Thanks for the support. Its definitely another great story on Brantley as a recruit - what the heck we were even doing in Hershey, PA recruiting a 2 star player from there I have no idea, much less how they keep converting these types of guys into quality SEC starter material. You have to wonder when some of the programs like Kentucky and Vandy will look to copy Mizzou's recruiting philosophy and player development program because there's clearly something to it that can give teams with less heralded recruits an edge. I have actually been there. It really is a magical place if you like sweets. If I were a coach and had the access, I would make Hershey a stop even if it was only a 1 star. If you have a hockey jones you can see the bears to.

Not saying Kansas is a great place to be but they do have the Russell Stover on the highway to Denver.

as bad as Missouri drivers are, i'm shocked we didn't have a lot more wrecks and fatalities.

We got buttfricked hard by the Rain and then the non stop rain from the tropical depression.

I don't remember the exact story, but he was a Syracuse commit and someone (might have been a new coach on staff, or a HS coach) told our coaches that we better look at this guy. He wasn't high on Syracuse, but that was his only major offer at the time.

The guy returned kicks on his HS team at 260lbs. Great athlete. Has had two fake punts with us that were 30+ yard gains.

Great news.

Upgraded to good condition. Successful surgery on a fractured tibia. Also has torn ligaments in his knee that will require surgery. Broken ribs. Hopes to be released on Tuesday.

Could have been a lot worse.

Now I can finally talk about football....frick, if be very surprised if he didn't miss the entire year.

Mizzou Athletics

23 mins · .

UPDATE: University of Missouri junior defensive tackle Harold Brantley is in good condition and recovering nicely following surgery performed for injuries he sustained in an automobile accident Sunday afternoon in the Columbia area. We’re pleased to report that the prognosis is very good long-term, and that Harold should be able to make a full physical recovery.

The following update came this morning from Rex Sharp, Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, and our Head Football Athletic Trainer:

• The injuries sustained in the accident included a fracture in his lower left leg (tibia), and this was successfully repaired surgically last night...
• Harold also sustained some ligament damage in his left knee which will require surgery at a later date, perhaps within 3-4 weeks…
• Additionally, Harold sustained multiple rib fractures and is naturally pretty sore from those…
• If Harold continues to progress as scheduled, he will be out of ICU Tuesday and moved into a regular room…
• It’s too soon to put a timetable on a planned return to football activities, so we’re going to leave that open and focus all attention on helping Harold recover and get back to full health first. When that information becomes known, we’ll certainly share it with everyone…
• Harold is receiving world-class healthcare from Mizzou team orthopaedists Dr. Pat Smith and Dr. Jim Stannard, in addition to the healthcare team at University Hospital. We are grateful for the multitude of prayers and well wishes from all over the country for both Harold and Maddie Stock, and are very thankful that they are both okay…
