I can't wait for the day that people feel uncomfortable without their seatbelts caressing them.

prayers sent. hate hearing these things. god be with them and their families.

as a man that was in a roll over, i can say without doubt that had i been wearing a seatbelt i'd be dead today. seatbelts are great for most wrecks. but the roll over i was in, no way to survive with it on. as it was i suffered a broken leg while ending up laying on the windshield

Generally you go to trauma first then ICU after. Who has the best trauma hospital in MO?

When did the Spring Semester end at MU? Were they both taking summer school this summer?

2nd week of May, I believe. And I would assume both were taking some classes, but I don't know.

MU Hospital has a top level trauma center. Best one is probably is St. Louis, but any major accidents in mid-Missouri go to Mizzou. I have a friend who was air-lifted there after a boating accident at Lake of the Ozarks, and they did a great job on her back surgery.

Thoughts and prayers for both of them... this is an incident where sports takes a backseat to the safety of human lives.

Great so your gonna be that guy when the seatbelt discussion comes up there's always that guy with the one anecdotal seatbelt would have killed me story. Well glad you survived your situation my man. The problem is your one in an extremely small amount of people who survived for NOT wearing his seatbelt versus the alternative. Every study ever done in the history of cars backs up the information. I've seen the data and can't rememberrte exact numbers but trust me whenI say the chances of survival is much much greater with one on. By all means though I'm happy you were one of the lucky ones who beat those extremely slim odds. Question though: do you still chose not to wear one today and does it honesty and truthfully make you feel safer that you don't wear one and do you tell everybody you know they shouldn't wear one because of your one anecdotal story?

Someone who says they were driving behind him when it happened posted somewhere that Brantley swerved to avoid a large turtle crossing the highway.

Hate those scenarios. In hindsight you know to just keep going straight but sometimes that split second instinct takes over. I spun out badly swerving to avoid a gator of all things crossing the road on the way from New Orleans to Biloxi once, was very lucky not to flip.

Mizzou's team spokesman Chad Moeller gives the following update: Brantley's injuries not life threatening, long term it is expected that he will be fine. Not sure at this point what the particulars are, obviously an accident like that, he's banged up.

Great news that its not life threatening!

@hmshd3: @GabeDeArmond my dad and bro were re first people on the scene and said Brantley was in obvious pain and his leg was pinned by the door

@hmshd3: @GabeDeArmond cont. but was conscious and somewhat alert most of the time but his knee/leg looked to be pretty messed up. :(
