I had noticed it was in the renderings shown, so had a feeling it was a big of a gag, but nonetheless agree that it would be a poor decision to get rid of it.
You can thank our fellow SEC Ranters for the joke about getting rid of the rock M

1. Glad to see you admit Mizzou is non-elite. 2. This is due to SJWs at Mizzou and your spineless administration caving in. The rule should be if you have to shrink your stadium capacity you have to leave the SEC.

I'm not aware of any sane person who said Mizzou was elite.

So they are going to just leave it under the reconstruction? Like bury it? This is so sad.

Lsu fans can't help their natural douche tendencies.

I know being an Aubie this will be very hard to understand but I am going to try to walk you through it.
The rock M is in the other endzone that is not being touched by this.
mookay?

So they are moving the M to the other end zone??
Won't be the same in a different end zone. The original end zone was best

Live attendance is declining because they focused on ever increasing short term revenue streams at the expense of reasonable, family priced long term event cost (ticket + parking + food + boodle + DONATIONS). They have basically killed off the next generation for bloated spending from current donors.
True post. In our renovation/expansion, they told us they will be discounting (at least part of) the upper deck to $25 tickets. Right now, there isn't any way for working class families to attend regularly.

I see Missouri is following the Baylor model.

That is awesome. Upvote and best Mizzou post ever.
^^^^^^^^Same here. Upvoted KC's post. Now that is the attitude of an SEC team.

Mizzou has no business what so ever in the SEC!
Get them out and get a real Southern team in. (Fla.State, Clemson, UNC, NCST, Duke, Ga.Tech,....)

The only problem I have with the design, it that it doesn't look connected to the rest of the stadium. Otherwise, it's spot on in what it does.
It's basically what LSU did with it's SEZ expansion...add premium seating instead of bleachers. The latest announcement by LSU is that the 1,500 general seats up top will become The Skyline Club. The Skyline Club, priced from $45-$120 depending on the game, will feature an all-you-can eat special menu that is included in the price of the ticket. Additional menu items along with beverages, including beer and wine, will be available for an additional cost to those purchasing tickets in the Skyline Club. That means Tiger Stadium's SEZ upper is now 100% premium seating.
The difference is, LSU built an upper deck above a lower bowl, and Mizzou tore out their lower bowl and built this stand-alone structure in it's place. If Mizzou had built this expansion above the existing lower bowl...or on top of a new one that connected to each side...no one anywhere would have a problem with it.
It addresses a lot of needs you had. My concern is that it limits your growth in the future.

I personally like the design. It will remedy some of the aesthetic issues we have with the upper corners of the west grandstand being empty. That always looks freakin crappy to me. Since the visiting team section and unfortunate ticket holders in the SEZ will be displaced to the east and west stands it should always be full.
Now, if we could just get the half time pass out reinstated so I can have a refresher mid game, we'd be set.

Losing 6000 seats is probably a good thing.
The brand new $1.5 Billion stadium for Alabama, I mean the Falcons, has fewer seats than the Georgia Dome.
Brand new Suntrust Park for the Braves has fewer seats than Turner Field.
It's a trend to cater a better experience to fewer fans.
Big stadiums like Neyland and to a lesser extent Sanford are going to be dinosaurs in 10 years.
They'll all be renovated at some point, and when they do, they'll be renovated for less seating.

I wish someone would discuss whether college football is actually losing fans.
There are a lot of reasons why that might actually be the case. Not really in the mood to use Duck-Duck and find some articles (quit using Google guys). But I'd like to read the numbers if someone gets a wild hair to investigate (note that is a different issue from escalating attendance costs and tv substitution, though related).
Also found it curious for a long time how the NFL in general doesn't have the massive attendance schools like LSU and Michigan do. Really most NFL teams would rate middle of the pack or lower if they were in the SEC as attendance goes.

It costs a small fortune to attend games....

Outside of the South, college football is more of a novelty to fans. In Pennsylvania for example, there are alot more people buying Steelers and Eagles merchandise than Penn State.
In the South, I would like to know if the the SEC football revenue crushes the combined total for the Falcons, Saints, Panthers, Titans, Dolphins, Bucs.
I think a study of those numbers would be more telling on college vs NFL in the region.
Although, go into it knowing that alot of that revenue for those listed NFL teams comes from the fact they are going to play a Steelers or Packers game that is going to inflate that number from what it would be if all those Southern teams simply played each other every week.
